Thank you! Very helpful! I did EC w disposable backup for my firstborn (from 3 months), and looking into cloth diapers as backup for baby #2. I have had my eye on Esymbly brand - any thoughts on that one with EC? One of the reasons I didn’t consider cloth wirh my first is I hate the bulky bottoms of many cloth diapers, so a more trim, fitted diaper like that sounds good.

Very different quilting results from front loader and top loader! Did you notice any difference in absorbency too?

I’m on my third year of cloth diapering and have found it to be so simple! Never had a wash routine issue, never had a stink issue (well… except for a brief foray into microfiber overnights). I’ve just done my own thing, trying not to get caught up in the trends, and not get carried away with all of the cute brands and various options. Our diaper stash is WAY smaller than what most people recommend but it works just fine for us, even when I had two in diapers. It’s been fun and I’ve loved discovering how NOT overwhelming it can be.

I ended up needing hemp fitteds/ flats because even with hemp inserts the cotton wouldn’t cut it unless the diaper was huuuuge. Like, the baby couldn’t even roll onto her side huge. 😅😂

@@mmmmmmmm1942 My baby is now 7 weeks, and I’m still using the disposable diaper 😅 The cloth diaper are still too big and bulky for her. She is small, wearing size 1 diaper. When she finished this box, she will move on to cloth diaper for sure. Also, my baby is colicky and only likes contact sleep, so it would be extra hard to do extra laundry with a new born. Fingers crossed things will get better with time. Good luck!

Boingos ALWAYS rip my thumb open and then I get blood drips on the diaper😞 I've never stabbed myself with pins or been caught by a snappi. 3rd cloth diapered baby and I still can't use Boingos without injury😂 but they work so great with prefolds I still keep them in rotation

Kangacare/Rumparooz and the original version Thirsties are both by far my favorites. I love how great the quality is , love the sealed seams, zippers etc. I bought all of them 3-6 years ago and haven’t had any of those brands need replacing. But, I went cheap and got a Texas tushies wet bag (only for the print) and some other cheaper wet bags that seem exactly the same as the TT about a year ago (and never used for diapering, I used them for travel occasionally and not a single one is still functional, so frustrating! The kangacare are pricey but will last, definitely well worth it. Crazy I’ll be reusing my 6 year old wet bags with baby #2, yet the cheapies I got a year ago couldn’t hold up

Thanks for sharing! My son is 3 months old and we have the a Baby Bjorn potty on the bathroom countertop where we take him for potty. He loves being held there and looking at himself and his parents in the mirror. Sprayer on the toilet, diaper bin with a big wet bag. On the dresser in our room we keep a basket of pocket diapers and cloth wipes (which we hardly ever use since we rinse him in the sink after potty). We throw a little changing mat on the bed where we diaper and dress him.

I did EC with my first baby. She did really well we caught almost all the poops since she was 6 months. The pees we didn’t get until 1 year and 10 months. After that it was smooth sailing and no more diapers since then, yay! However I have my second baby now and I am trying cloth diapers this time. He’s 4 months and we’re still working on learning what his signals for pooping are… So I have a question, how do you know when baby is peeing so you can offer the potty? I can’t tell when he’s peeing I don’t see any signal. Or do you just offer the potty like every hour during the day?

I just focused on transition times instead of trying to read cues: diaper changes, wake ups, after meals, and anytime she got out of something like a stroller, carrier, carseat etc. That’s great you had success with your first! I hope you find a good rhythm with your second too! ❤️

I am sewing my third set of cloth diapers. My adult nieces made the choice, I did the research, bought the fabrics and notions and made the gifts. The first set was given away very soon because she had twins 👼👼 and couldn't keep up with them. Another niece threw them away because she wanted her convenience. However, now on 2nd husband and 3rd baby 👼👼👼, new hubby put his foot down on expensive disposables. I still had leftover fabrics so I am honoring the request. I am making multiple styles and sizes. Fortunately I enjoy the process even if the gift and/or new hubby are discarded 🥴😳

My baby is 2 months old and because we do EC she stopped pooping at night! We use the same solution of babee greens side snap wool cover with a stay dry liner inside a clotheez size small workhorse and a hemp doubler. We’ve hit the sweet spot for now! When baby is older I plan on using preflats with boosters. We also have 3 OS bamboo fitteds that will come in handy in the future.

Thank you so much for this whole video. I'm 14 weeks pregnant and I already know I want to do EC with cloth diapers as backup. I haven't gotten a whole lot of negative comments yet but a lot of people having the attitude of "better you than me" or "I could never do that!" It's so encouraging to get advice from a mom who has been there and is going to talk about cloth diapering normally instead of making it a big deal. I feel like I found the right corner of KZread for me at this point in my journey. ❤

Wow that was so helpful 😮 I’m shook with the level of experience and info! This is someone that should have a KZread channel🎉 I’m pregnant with my first baby and I’ve been trying to find an EASY to use, actually organic cotton cloth diaper to stash up. Im not a fan of the tucking concept (I have too many bras to stuff as it is and it drives me nuts) Am I correct in understanding that GroVia would be the best brand in that case? The wool cover with the cloth insert you mentioned at the end also looked interesting - do you have a brand recommendation for those?

I started cloth between 3-4 months. For the next baby I plan to use a lot of prefolds in the newborn stage I think - easy to launder but you can contain all the runny poop pretty easily easily.
