I hope I don't get too much hate for this, but I've been studying (Brazilian) Portuguese for a year and it's one of the best things I've ever done. It sounds sweet and mellifluous, I can understand my favourite bossa nova songs, and even a little Spanish as well. Many birds with one stone. Of course Spanish wins out in terms of number of speakers, but my first love is Portuguese. Follow your heart. Saudaçoes/Saludos a todos!

I’ve been using Immersive Translate for the last few months, and can’t believe the results I’m getting. I’m using it to watch my shows and movies on Netflix every day, and already I’m learning a lot. The free browser extension comes with 100+ languages, so you’ll definitely have no trouble finding a language. I’m making a lot of progress and couldn’t be happier.

i subscribed to a couple channels with hispanohablantes like angie velasco, and whilst i recognised the argentinian accent, i didn't know at the time that i was immersing myself and surrounding myself with it. and idk randomly one day i just noticed how id pronounce words like yo, llevar, ayer like argentinians do. i really like the accent i love the flow and just everything it's so satisfyiing. now i pretty much only have language exchange partners from argentina. i'm from sweden btw

Not achieving fully and making mistakes in your native sound weird but it's not , mostly because our diealct* , we might think it is not fully different from the high language but it is , Btw damn when i saw the thumbnail and the video in general i thought it has at least more than 10k But really got ..., anyway keep up 頑張って💫
that's right, also the translation thing is something to be considered. when someone asks me to translate something from a language to another, i can hear a quick bug sound in my head lmao and yeah, i'm still a small channel trying my best on KZread ahahah

Duolingo always be marking you wrong for slight variations or small "mistakes". It's also really inconsistent about what counts as a mistake, variation, or typo. Also, your Portuguese may be fluent, but it's testing your translation skills into a non-native language for you, which is probably why you didn't do as good as you'd hoped. No need to feel bad about it, I think you did a good job. When I did the Spanish placement test, I got no wrong answers and it also placed me at around the same place as you (and because Spanish is popular and like the only course that gets updated a lot, it just kept pushing me back, making my progress really slow and using too much "proper" Spanish with no room for dialectal variation). I really did enjoy the video though
You're right! I think there were some times I was really scared of the translation so I ended up writing nervously and some other times I just didn’t read it until the end and was just dumb ahahah I’m glad you enjoyed watching!
