Very much like one of his idols, Stevie Ray, who demonstrated much more virtuosity in his song writing than just traditional blues/jazz.

Got to see the great Stevie Ray at local clubs in San Antonio, Tx. back in mid to late 70's, back when was playing at the old Teen Canteen with Paul Rey and the Cobras. Believe me, John is not a Stevie Ray clone!! This is another example of the John Mayer sound. He can combine vocals, with jazz or blues stylings as well any performer out there, regardless of genre.

Had the great fortune to see him play this 3 nights later in Dallas, Tx. back on 08/01/08!! One of the finest shows I've seen!! My wife was going nuts during this song, couldn't believe he was playing it!! Ironically, just saw Herbie Hancock in Tucson, Az, on 03/06/18!!
