Redbud Soil Company

Redbud Soil Company

Redbud Soil Company is an all organic garden Store and Website supplying gardeners of all types, products to help grow plants naturally. We don't discriminate on what plants we help you grow, but we do focus solely on organic grow methods for those plants.

We are not here to upsell you on products that don't belong in your garden. Gardens are not one size fits all, so collecting data from your garden is crucial to figure out what your garden is actually in need of.

For this reason we offer soil & sap testing for a multitude of plants. With this information, you can pinpoint nutrition in most any crop, thereby only using what you need, and ultimately saving money long-term.

Our KZread is here to share techniques and information we feel you could benefit from as a gardener. We in no way want you to think this info is the "end all be all", and would hope that you further your education in gardening with other creators, authors, and research papers.

    I'm actually wanting to do an updated version of this video, because we have partially changed our stance on this. When you are super high like yours, we do recommend now to bring it down some. We don't shoot for a certain number, but if you could get it in the 7s that would be good.

    So regarding nutrients: Soil testing and top dressing to keep a baseline longterm and then fine tuning with sap testing and foliars in the short term. The Organics alive nutrients to continuously add a bit of nutrients that are consumed? Can one also use small amounts of top dressings continuously according to what was consumed in the previous cycles? Thanks for the info!

  • @RedbudSoilCompany
    @RedbudSoilCompany Жыл бұрын

    I woukd only top dress based off of a soil test. If you wanted to break up the application over a couple of times that would be fine. However top dressing every week is just not necessary.

    how would you answer the buildasoil series which I believe has had soil testing done on one bed at least twice and has run through the results, which have been balanced and not shown excess or deficiency despite using blends. not being combative, just posing a live example from a prominent supplier to continue the conversation. one counter argument straight off the bat is that they are on season four, so not loads of runs deep yet.

  • @RedbudSoilCompany
    @RedbudSoilCompany Жыл бұрын

    Every company or person that balances nutrients has their own numbers that they "believe" represent a balanced soil. There is no universal number. We do hundreds of tests constantly, and very rarely is a soil balanced at any point after the first month. We do see it occasionally, but not very often. I would take it a step further and say you need to look at sap testing because that is the real story of what the plant is taking up. Using a premade top dress is kind of an out dated way of doing things, and is still only pushed because it generates sales.

    So how many would you want to use in a 4x8 bed?im outdoor how often do you usually water per week? Are drippers a good ideal to for the whole bed or hand watering with a sprayer. Yo where do you get your mulch from

  • @RedbudSoilCompany
    @RedbudSoilCompany Жыл бұрын

    1 is enough. You can move it every week or so if you want. Watering schedule is based of plant size, Temps, humidity, etc., but typically after a few weeks of veg, we water everyday indoor and outdoor. I like droppers, thats a good way to automate things a bit. We sell this mulch in store and on our website.

    What is the difference between Logan Labs and A&L? I've used Logan once and was able to work out my results using information available from Steve Solomon's book, The Intelligent Gardener. Will the A&L report supply the same information in a way that I can geek-out on my own, or at least understand y'alls recommendation? Appreciated!

  • @RedbudSoilCompany
    @RedbudSoilCompany Жыл бұрын

    Big difference is a and l uses a mild acid to extract. Logan labs test was created for soil with clay in it. Soiless media doesn't have clay in it, so we choose to use a lab like a and l because their test is specifically used for soiless media. The results will be different, and honestly if what you are doing is working, stick with it.

    If there a lot of birds that come and go in your garden then let the worms go at sunset when birds start ending their day to find a place to roost for the night...or else the birds will do what birds do with worms. A light layer of dirt over worms and you watching during daylight will help them along. The sun helps warm them up, too.

    Does not de-ionized (reverse osmosis) water naturally remineralize when it comes in contact with soil? Does not all water give or take minerals as a function of life itself? Alkalinity is everything. Chlorine? Not so much✌️

  • @RedbudSoilCompany
    @RedbudSoilCompany Жыл бұрын

    Ro water is like a solvent. It will pull minerals from the soil as it passes through. That being said, we have changed our stance on using ro water, because so many of our commercial customers on well water were having heavy metal issues. .25 gram gypsum per gallon in your ro water can help to remineralize.
