If this is considered heavy traffic, welcome to São Paulo, Caracas, and Nairobi, even Stockholm. You wont even be able to lane splitting at times. Other than that, nice to see how LA is doing it. With thanks

Dude, you drive like an asshole. A contemptible asshole. Starting from 2:06, you swerved the person in the Saturn SUV, then straddled to line all the way to a stoplight and proceeded to give the person in the left lane TWO SECONDS to take their foot off the brake before you then blew you horn at them, tried to provoke them to engage you so you could tell "inform them of how badly they were driving", and then threaded the needle again between two vehicles? If you try that where I'm from, Ill back completely over you at the stoplight.

You are lane splitting and I know it's legal. However, it is against the law to travel faster than 10 mph over the speed of the surrounding traffic. At your speed, a car changing lanes cannot see you and you will hit the cars. The way you drive is not only against the law, you show utter disregard for the safety of other motorists.

Dude I just got home and I was driving on the 105 I was driving on the middle of those yellow lines and a cop followed me and told me that’s not a lane so I seriously was confused. WTF is it legal or not I always ride like that.

This video shows just how safe is it to ride on a freeway while being very efficient. I come from Taiwan, it's shameful that motorcycles are pohibited to ride on freeways.

I tried this and it didn't block out the wind noise for me. I made sure I followed instructions with pushing them inside my ears, and they almost came off when I removed my helmet due to how far they stick out. I don't recommend them.

i love how the justification for lane splitting is "it saves time" and "we're using space that's already there". yeah. that's exactly right. it's saving you time and you're using space. neither of those things makes it advisable or even remotely safe. i've been side swiped by a motorcyclist on an LA freeway before. sheared my mirror off and i was left holding the bag for the repairs. the biker didn't seem hurt but easily could have been - and for what? saved a little time? i get that bikes are small and they fit in tight places but nobody expects a motorcycle to come whizzing up from inches off your bumper while they're trying to maneuver through traffic in a CAR. it's startling and it's dangerous. just because it's legal in CA doesn't make it a good idea. if you do this on your bike, you should stop.

Entitled motorcyclists!! You're asking for someone to hit you because you're in between two lanes, you're not as safe as you would be in a car & because you're much harder to see you're more likely to get in a wreck because of a motorcyclists wrecklessness!

  • @futureofcarstube

Make sure to stay in a lane for a couple seconds and check your mirror before lane splitting again, don’t swing from middle of two lanes to another middle of two lanes there could be someone lane splitting going faster than you it’s unsafe.

Manual cars make up less than 10% of vehicles sold in the US. Most sports cars are auto and it's not strictly because of convenience. They are significantly faster than their manual counterparts. I'm not trying to shit on manuals but let's be real here, automatics are more efficient at shifting, ... once you get your foot half-way thru the clutch, a high-end sports car can shift twice. Auto MPG is better, but that depends more so on how the car is driven. A driver can select current gear in many modern automatics with paddles. My auto GTI can shift as fast as your manual M5, plus I can drive with my hot chocolate in hand. Auto is more convenient for traffic. I once drove in a 5 hour traffic jam with a manual... never again! High-end sports bikes (liter) have auto up and down shift, so the transmission operates similar paddles on a steering wheel. The McLaren F1 was released in the 90s. Modern Mclarens have been out of the manual game for a while now. Other major car companies will drop manuals completely from their lineups by 2030. If I was tracking a car then maybe I would have a manual in the stable, but for practicality and everyday use, no thanks. Most people are driving to work, store, etc. and they want convenience and practicality over fun. The stats don't lie.

Would have been cool if they got Tim Allen, Jay Leno and someone else (I'll let you and the internet decide the 3rd) to have an American counter part to Top Gear/Grand Tour. They have the knowledge, passion, humor and history. They are the only celebrities that seem the same kind of caliber as Clarkson, May and Hammond. They also have similar style of humor and that humble blue collar persona, which is rare in celebrities.

The engine isn't developed by Porsche, the engine was based off Harley's VR1000 race engine. Porsche had a bit of collaboration on the cooling and emissions systems, but the rest of that rig is all Harley. Look it up.
