Beautiful video mate. Congratulations for finishing a tough old race! The scouser sends her best wishes too! Take care and see you next year.
Thanks fella... was good to meet you both afterwards also
Beautiful scenery well worth a visit.
Wow what an eye opener. I know Sweden is cold in winter but I have never heard of people going from the UK to ski in Sweden
I have watched half a dozen videos on La Thuile and this is the first one with any soul. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, thank you!
@@robbo11a This year I and 10 others went to Sauz d'Oulx the skiing was fantastic the weather perfect and the town is terrific however I know we had the best week in the last 4-years for snow and weather. Italy is massively cheaper for beer and food and even the lift passes and I am looking for somewhere with a good snow record and is in Italy and La Thuile is a possible contender for 2025 but the videos before yours make it look like the dullest place on earth. Being very shallow I am easily lead by good videos showcasing resorts.
La Thuile is one of fave places to ski… actually had two holidays there we thought it was so good. Stay in the Placibel apartments if you can (it’s also an hotel) and there’s a really good supermarket in the complex… all a few minutes walk to the ski lifts. There’s also the free ski bus (from next to the apartments) that will take you further afield if you wish… so loads of options to ski elsewhere once you’re tired of the local pistes! Btw… if it’s an inexpensive skiing holiday you’re after… think also about Sweden (see my latest video)… we had 11 days there for the price of a week in Italy.

Wondered, does this resort tend to be out of the sun and more icy?
It’s a bit of a mixture … the higher slopes are all mostly in the sun but obviously once on the lower slopes and amongst the trees the piste gets shaded, but not too much ice regardless… depends if there’s rain on top of the snow. The lower slopes do get very slushy though towards the end of the day.
Thanks for the reply 👌
Niiice and fast driver !!!
stayed at Canazei the 2nd week in January '24- skiing at it's best.

Hi Rob, what camera have you used to film this? Great filming and footage, i cant see where the camera is attached to you!
Hiya. It’s an Insta360 X3 camera… attached to the top of my helmet. I used to have the original version of the camera but its screen to view settings was truly terrible… was way too dim to see in daylight. The newer X3 model is a joy to use though.
Wow we havent even heard of these! Its incredible. We got the GoPro Hero10 two years ago... wish we had held on for this now! Thanks for getting back to me, enjoyed your holiday videos, we go there in two weeks time to La Thuile, hope our footage is as good!
La Thuile is one of my fave places to ski… been a couple of times and would go back every year if I could… loads of skiable slopes and easy to get to other areas… make use of the free ski bus to visit/ski in Courmayeur if you’re able.
Hi im going courmayeur on 4th feb and was gonna get bus a couple days over to la thuile what are the day pass price?
Hi! The bus is free! There’s a regular service throughout the day and into the early evening that’s intended to transport the skiers free of charge in either direction… we used it a few times to also go shopping as well as ski
@@robbo11a great thanks
Hi Rob, going to La Thuile in a couple of weeks, is it also worth skiing in Courmayeur? Thanks!
Hiya fella… if you’ve never been to Courmayeur then it’s definitely worth the short free bus ride from La Thuile … only takes about 35 mins. Tbh though if you’ve an early start and good weather you’ll easily ski all the runs in a day there as it’s quite small (compared to La Thuile). Don’t forget you can ski over to France from La Thuile also.
@@robbo11a Thanks a lot for the info Rob! Really looking forward to the trip. Hope the snow and weather will be good!
Looks great, how was the drag lift from the french side back over to la thuile? Hoping my 11 Yr old can manage it!!
It was really fine, nothing to fret over… it’s a very long drag lift and last year it broke down whilst I was midway up it… had to ski back to the start and take the parallel lift (there’s two side by side).
Great, appreciate the reply 👍 thank you
Thank you very much for doing this, great for looking back on it (and looking forward to the next one!), cheers pal
No worries! Was a great day out … hope it happens again next year
Wunderschöne Aufnahmen,gut gemacht!
Thank you 🙏
How did you go with the smoke for this plane, What system did you use and did it work well. Id love some details cause I want to do the same. Cheers.
This video is very old and I got rid of the model many many years ago, but I think I recall I had a separate smoke fluid tank which fed first to a sullivan pump (which is controlled via the Rx), and then to a very narrow brass tube that was wrapped around the engine… this allowed the heat of the engine to ‘pre-heat’ the smoke fluid. Then this I turn was connected to a pressure-type nipple on the exhaust.
@@robbo11a Thanks heaps for getting back to me. I have a Sullivan Pump just sitting there so great to know it can be done. Did the extra weight affect performance?
@@mattprob memory serves the models performance wasn’t too hindered… mind I was using a beefy Saito four stroke, a 120 I think, … just be mindful of the extra wing loading and the weight on landing… no bouncing !
I have the American and Canadian Flag Seabreeze Parachutes. 82". E-flight 32 electric motor and 60amp ESC. My brother has the smaller one with different colors.
Looks and sound great. Always fancied a biplane
God blees old Danks. A pleasure to meet him. Fantastic imterview thanks for sharing Best wishes Joe
Hi Rob, great video! We're putting together a video and wondered if we could have permission to use some of your footage? Drop us an email on [email protected] if possible! Thank you & happy running!
Great video and great soundtrack!
Did you not publish this one already ?
Stephen Jones it’s a new version !
Great vid and nice editing
We ran this Saturday 13th and it was fab, thanks for filming it so we can relive the moments!
Good run Rob How did you keep your cam steady lol (gimble)
Great video Rob!
Which ignition system does it have ?
Floppy Lc it’s a magneto ... doesn’t require a ignition unit !
No details on this rocket fuel?
Would be nice to know some specifics. Fuel, prop size, RPM, etc.
Is these sounds normal? I think it was in need of oil. But I don't know, I am very newb.
Is that it ?
Looks like a Laser 70 to me.
what are they doing
weird
In methanol engines, the high end may be too lean.
Hopefully in the intervening three and a half years he's managed to get it running properly ;-)
hey man. awesome work on the plane. I did the same thing to my .46 extra 300s from great planes and its FANTASTIC. PS... USE DIESEL FUEL... WORKS A LOT BETTER AND CHEAPER TO GET... LOL "shove that in your pipe and smoke it" lmao. great work
Hi Rob what's that going in ? A steam train 😁😁
Hi Rob, what retracts did you go for? I would like the buy the model but it doesn't have any as standard does it?
Hi Tom, it came with retracts in the kit, but I soon changed them to some from Robarts
+Rob Tomlin thanks for your reply mate sadly I can not find this 90-120 size model for sale anywhere..
+Tom Ling I expect the kit is no long available for sale, if you notice the data stamp on the video youi'll see it's from 2009 ! I no longer have this model, it proved to be quite the handful to taxi as it was too nose heavy when the landing gear was down, although in the air it was perfect.
He touched up his divot just like a golfer. Classy.
Time to call it a day eh?
The tube is just left 'free' so the excess oil can be vented outside the engine cowl, it's not normally fed into anything... although since there is a little pressure coming from it, it can also be used to run a smoke system pump.
ok thanks
where does that green tubing supposed to go? I have no idea???
it's the excess oil bleed outlet/tube
so does it have to be routed to anything
That's normal. You have to correct with rudder, which he did on the next takeoff roll.
Torque roll, due to nailing the throttle too hard after takeoff.
Fussy little Jets art they.Try your air lower from 20 to 50 psi & only hit the trigger full on or off for one second only.To set up for Methanol is much better & I explain how to fix it for this on one of my videos.Fuel level is good low only because it gives a brief second to blow out the excess fuel vapor with no extra fuel going in.
Rob this is not a Seagull mfg model, I'm afraid. It's a Black horse!
HOBBY KING STRIKES AGAIN CANT WAIT FOR THE FARMER TO HEAR THAT (WELL IF IT EVER RUNS LOL) TRY IT ON THE BIKE FIRST :-)
Also looks like the head and locking ring might be loose as smoke comes out between there in your video!
Hey fella, the instruction manual that comes with the engine states the fuel tank to be "10-20mm below the centreline of the metering jet" !
Maybe raise the tank? To me looks like level of the fuel is lower than the engine. Might make it easier for the fuel to flow through.
