Driving the Mississippi Delta

Driving the Mississippi Delta

As the author David Cohn once said," The Mississippi Delta begins in the lobby of the Peabody Hotel in Memphis and ends on Catfish Row in Vicksburg." I travel and film these small towns and interesting spots along the way.

I'm gonna show these videos, particularly, the Webb videos, to my brother. I left Mississippi when I was about 4 years old. I can still remember certain structures and places. I will show this to my brother . His memory is much better than mine. He's 10 yrs older than I am.

Thanks for taking me back home. I lived the first half of my life in Itta Bena. My parents built a store out on 82 hwy right after WWll. It was known as Huggins' Corner. People came from miles around to enjoy our BBQ. I'm 82 now and have Wonderful memories of that little town. It greaves me that it has gotten in such bad condition. Thanks for the memories.

I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ruleville and then Drew at age 5 when my mom died. My grandparents took me in and raised me. I wish I had never left. This brings back so many memories, I got chill bumps watching it. I remember when every store in Ruleville and Drew were open for business, nothing was empty. Carhartt was there in Drew. I was raised at 375 South Blvd, Drew, Ms. Love the Delta!🙏🏻🇺🇸💯🤙🏻❤️

WOW. This is a town I had my first teaching job--Dr. Dewayne Haynes hired me. Things were different back then in the way the town looked. Moving to Huntsville, Alabama from Louisiana-Arkansas was a step up indeed. Seriously, this looks Third World now.
