    Though we have permit all year.... I believe there is a land crab spawning cycle during the summer months that these permit particularly cue in on. Whatever they were eating was pretty small. I got 2 eats on a tan bead chain grand slam crab - but who knows what they were really into that day?? Thanks so much!!

    That was a well-earned fish Nick. I have fished a similar stretch of flat nearby and seen permit on several occasions, but they still elude me ... perhaps the most frustrating fish that there is. Thanks for uploading, as it's given me renewed confidence.

  • @nickwilliams5603

    thank you Steve. having the confidence to just go..... is very important. Otherwise you cannot catch anything!! The more you head out the more you learn to back yourself and your instincts and the more the skills get honed. I was just out there again. Was casting on fish in under 5mins - had a dozen shots in 2 hrs. No eats.... but some close calls - and lots of fun. Tight lines!

I couldn't have expected it to meet my needs any beter_*

    *Best tube on the market. I've tried 3 other brands.>>>**allmy.tips/FloatTube?ロ** This one is the best. My only concern is that the zippers on the pockets feel fragile. I have not had any problems with them yet.*

    *_Fantastic craftᴥ•>_**_allmy.tips/FloatTube?れ_**_ I wish the net at the back went all the way up that area would make an awesome live well, but I made do with it and a gill line when trout fishing in lakes in Colorado. It's easy enough to move, you don't get to wet, when I really got active in it my legs and pants, all below the belt only got slightly damp. The zippers hold up great, I could think of a few improvements but over all an awesome unit, check youtube for a video of an anchor a guy made, consider that if you are in a lake or windy area it will help you stay in an area you want. I named mine Mud Bug because it moves backwards hehe_*

    *_This is the best money I have ever spent on myself. It completely surpassedᴥ•>_**_allmy.tips/FloatTube?mmꉺ _**_ all my expectations. Ok you do need to be careful I had a bass jump close to landing it and buried the trebohook in the front of the right float. That was the only problem I had over 5 years of use . It was an easy inexpensive fix as classic backs up there product. I had a new float in a week and all was good. I highly recommend this tube and this kind of fishing as you can go anywhere with a good pair of flippers._*

    Great video Nick. I fished tarpon with you three half-days in 2014 while staying at Sandals. Conditions during my stay were not suitable for permit or I'd have given it a try. Good to see you're still at it - I'll definitely be in touch if I'm down that way again! In the meantime, I'll practice my cross-body casting...

  • @captainantiguanick
    @captainantiguanick6 жыл бұрын

    Thanks Dave, Great to hear from you again. Yeah we had a tough time trapped in the lagoon banging on those tarpon for 3 days! Got a few more toys these days to help expand the range and hassle a few different fish when the wind is a bit less. P.S. Forget 'across the body' casting - instead just adapt your regular back cast and turn your waist rather than your wrist. It uses most of the same muscles as a normal cast and takes less brain re-training and keeps you tracking straighter. The plane of the rod is set from your elbow (rotating the forearm) NOT at the wrist. It is much stronger and less likely to get corrupted as load increases..... Let the rod butt brace against your forearm for greater leverage and hang the weight on your index finger. (You need very light grip if done properly) Find the slot between the ulna (underneath bone in forearm) and the forearm muscle itself. It should sit there quite happily with a bit of rod load applied. Tension the cast through traction (drag the rod butt first leading with your elbow) to remove all traces of slack. Keep your eye on the target and imagine you are just flipping a coin off the center of your thumbnail over your shoulder towards it. Take the rod to your eye and haul as late as you can. Don't haul till the rod passes your shoulder going backwards...... it must be fully tensioned before rotation and therefore compression can occur. The later you haul the more dramatic the rod bend you can achieve with less effort. The rod path MUST NOT be affected by the haul if it is to be effective. When your haul finishes the rod must stop ASAP to keep the loop focussed. Just drop the rod enough so the line and fly doesn't crash into the rod tip. Arrow points on your loops show you are headed the right direction! Let me know how you get on.... tight lines, always
