I also work as a missionary priest in Alaska, Diocese of Juneau, every summer. I have been serving at St. Therese Catholic Church in Skagway, AK for the past 13 summers.

You hit it out of the park again with a wonderful homily that broke open the scripture for its time as well as for our country’s current political chaos. Always enjoy tuning into your online Celebration of the Mass in your sweet church. I really appreciate your online Mass. Currently, I’ve been very busy preparing my house for my grandson (20) who will receive a kidney transplant from his mother - thanks be to God that she would offer to be his donor and that she was approved! - and he’s be finish recuperating at my house. I’ve been washing walls, sterilizing and cleaning everything, shopping for supplies, packing - I’ll be his caregiver following the surgery on 7/25 for at least three weeks - and I’m not a spring chicken! I’m 70. My eldest grandson and are very close, and I’ve been with him on this journey toward transplant and 5 surgeries and dialysis for three years. I’ve been so busy that I had to give up my time in the Perpetual Chapel here in Abilene, TX, as well as physically going to Mass. I look forward to resuming my normal schedule, but I won’t be forgetting you and your wonderful Masses! And I’m very hopeful that through the grace of God my grandson will be able to begin college in the Fall, and that both he and his mother both recover quickly and easily from their surgeries. The timing is bad that I won’t be able to attend your Mass during his recuperation in August. I’m so curious about the wooden structures behind the altar. Perhaps after Mass one day you could give us a tour of your church and explain what we’re looking at. Hello, Father Dave. I have to say that your homily was absolutely beautiful 🥲. I have long had a big problem with thinking of the future in regards to politics, especially with all I see and hear (litterally; I have since sworn off all news after 2021 with the exceptions of sites that speak only of the arts like comics, tv, and video games.) I keep worrying about what will happen once whoever is in charge of the country takes over and, now, with what you said- "Only God Is God. Only the Devil is the Devil"- that God or the Devil is not in the White House and they never were and will never be. I will quite possibly come to this particular homily to hear you say that if I am ever that worried again. Again, thank you so much. Also, if you could pray for my grandmother. She was recently taken to a hospital that is far more advanced so they can run some better tests on her due to something they found on her liver. We can only pray it's blockage that he be fixed. Again, should I feel super stressed out from what I hear or think, I will try my hardest to listen to this and to try and repeat it. Besides, it's only four years 🤷♂️. Thanks so much again, and God bless.

Father, I don’t believe anyone wants to see a person murdered or assassinated. I’m uncomfortable with an underlying political message in the homily. Unless I’m mistaken and you’re not referring to Trump?
I was unable to attend my usual mass today, due to being ill. Please pray for me, that my stomach will settle and that I can eat normally. BTW, I think the song you were trying to recall at the end of mass was "See You in September", a 1966 hit for some of your fellow Jersey guys, the Happenings.
