    @@kensingtonwick Hi You can buy from Rona for $390, Yes it is expensive, depending on your application as to whether it will save money. For us it is fantastic for synthetic grass which a blower won't work on. Or cleaning gravel on driveways. Or we use it to dethatch lawns without scarifying them.

    Is it worth spending more on the ph1420 multi head unit or is the ph1400 good enough? The 1400 is being sold with the edger for $20 less than the 1420 by itself.

  • @1greenthumbgardeningtwba
    @1greenthumbgardeningtwbaАй бұрын

    Hey Mate. I have not tried the PH1420. It is the newer version. I have bought another two of the PH1400 as they have been half price, one with the 5amp and fast charger and the other had a 2.5amp slow charger and a trimmer attached I have been told that the PH1420 has more power and a better trigger set up. Personally I have flogged my original Ph1400 for 4 years before I had to replace the gear box, then the motor died, so I have replaced it. I love the Ph1400 it has done an amazing job and I am very happy with it. I super glue the safety switch on the PH1400 for better comfort and ease of use. If you are commercial it may be worth going the PH1420. The biggest advantage is the water proofing on the Ph1420. But I don't work in the rain. Hopefully this helps Thanks Scotty

    Scott, i am looking at purchasing some ego gear. i want to purchase a hedger and a trimmer. I like the look of the new commercial trimmer (STX4500) as well as the hedger (HTX5300) but am also considering getting the multitool (older model) with a hedging attachment as currently on sale for $439 with a charger and battery. I have had a play in the store and don't love the trigger on the older model which is mainly why i am considering looking at the commercial gear instead of the cheaper unit. Do you think i will be happy with the older model or should i purchase the HTX5300?

  • @1greenthumbgardeningtwba
    @1greenthumbgardeningtwbaАй бұрын

    Hi, I definitely would not use the stihl hla 86. It is the same as the ego with the motor in the head. The problem with the telescopic hedges are they are only designed for straight up and down hedges. In all the brands of hedge trimmers I have use the ego is still the best. If you don’t want to use a backpack the ego Multi tool with hedge trimmer attachment with a 2.5amp will give you great weight ratio, ease of use and you can reach up to 4m without a extension pole or 5.5m with extension pole. 6m if really keen with two extension poles.

    By far, this has to be the most honest and best user case review on the internet so far! Well done to One Green Thumb Gardening! Whilst I will never go back to ICE gardening equipment, the cost of batteries should be factored in as a consumable, just like fuel. IMHO I have found that the EGO batteries seem to be the most reliable, and their battery cooling and monitoring far superior. I have seen one massive toxic fire with a European brand, whereby the contractor lost his entire trailer with equipment valued at around $35k … he spent 2 months in hospital. Heard of numerous others with the same brand. BTW, if you get a red light on the charger, you can try pulling the battery off, holding down the battery indicator button for over 10 seconds to reset the battery circuit board. If it keeps failing it’s time to recycle it for safety reasons. IMH experience, the batteries tend to fail in the first 12 months anyway, so use them straight up. Also, check dates on batteries when you buy new equipment. And when you buy new equipment with batteries, ensure the battery is in the box and the sales place has not been using it to display equipment, of replaced their mate’s batteries and swapped them over.

  • @mithrasize
    @mithrasizeАй бұрын

    Just 1 thing when you mentioned hardwiring the backpack. If the wire gets too hot when using it, it is worth trying a thicker wire, as a normal 240v cord is too thin for low voltage and high current. That way you also be more efficient and get more juice out of the battery. It is a shame to know even with a reputable brand EGO the battery is still not very reliable and more like a consumables. But between that and all other maintenance for a petrol tool, it is still very attractive when going down the electrical path.

  • @garageblitztv3215
    @garageblitztv3215Ай бұрын

    Could not agree more that the batteries should be classed as consumables … far too many reviews are done on just how cheap to run on electricity Vs fuel. Ego is also guilty of this with their “running cost Vs ICE”. This has to be the most honest and best user case review on the internet so far!

  • @1greenthumbgardeningtwba
    @1greenthumbgardeningtwba2 ай бұрын

    Hey, Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to use the EGO commercial telescopic chainsaw. I believe it would be better than the multi tool as it has more weight in the head with the motor in the head. I love the chainsaw attachment on the multi tool though at one extension pole it bounces on the branches and doesn't give the best cut. It can shudder from lack of weight. I have used the Stihl telescopic chainsaw and it works fantastic. My friend from Darling down tree service uses the Stihl battery telescopic chainsaw and loves it. I have the Stihl MSA 161 T arborist battery chainsaw and absolutely love it. At the time I purchased ego didn't have the arborist, since ego has bought out the small arborist chainsaw you need to have the batter with a cord which I don't like. Plus is has a regular chain compared to the micro on Stihl. The micro chains are more expensive but a superior cut. Thank you for watching and I hope this answers some questions. Happy to help more Scotty

That was $399 US. I believe that's what you're using in your videos with a 5.0 battery? I am waiting for them to arrive. I'll let you know how it turns out. . The videos I've seen with the ego commercial telescopic chainsaw. Looks like it works pretty well on even 8to 10 inch limbs with a little bit of choking, but can get that job done and on 4 to 6 inch limbs no problem. We will see... Your videos are very clear and got me going down this whole rabbit hole to order both because I originally ordered the commercial telescopic chainsaw ... I always advise customers that with hard cut backs coming into winter that the recovery is going to be very slow and it will be bald , in this situation 3 months before regrowth. As we are not cutting the sides hard back the hedge will still look ok The customer wanted me to do it anyway. Then it becomes case of if I don't do it someone else will.
