Since you repaired your convertable, have you raised it or lowered it since then? Once I fix mine am I going to still be able to use the top or is it permanently up until I replace the whole top?
As long as you do it correctly, you shouldn't have any issues using your top.
@@DIYSalvageGuy got another question,,,,, the motor for the rear window that's for raising and lowering said window, it only works when it wants to. Ok recently my brake light sensor switch gave out. Haven't yet replaced it, just been bypassing it. Would that switch affect the motor for rear window, in any way?
Review starts around 4 minute mark
😂
How many clamps did you have to use in total? I thought I counted 3 is that correct?
Use as many as you need. You can also use a paint stirrer to get more clamping distance
@@DIYSalvageGuy so when you did this, you haven't used or lowered your convertable top since you did this job on it? Is thar correct?
I have same car and same issue but the problem is window is not moving upward even if I support from inside. It seems this is something that I can’t fix without professional assistance. I’m looking for somewhere to fix it.
You can try using beach balls to support it from inside so you can work on the outside. I'm not exactly sure what you mean but I hope this helps.
What about CBF?
It's been a while since I made this but with season 9 you can get two half freeze duration items for cbf. If I missed it then this is a great option to fill it. Hope that helps!
I find this video great and encouraging i came a across a Boss 302 and i want to try and rebuild it if i win the auction. I plan to bring it over to Mexico and possibly compete in time attack competitions. Greetings y'all.
It's a great and fun thing to do. It's not hard but takes time and skills. As long as you're fine with it not being perfect as you learn the skills, I say go for it. Good luck!
Curious- my S5 battery died, so I jumped the car and the camera does not show now. I saw another channel where a guy saying sometimes you just need to unplug the battery for 3 seconds and replug the battery back in. I may try that.
I appreciate the information! Let me know if it works for you. Sadly it does not for me.
Where u bought the airbag from and how much was it
It's been a while but probably either ebay or car-part.com it was probably cheap to get.
buy the airbag at ford it’s 140
would this be very similar to a 2016 mustang GT
I can't say for sure, but the concept is generally the same for all cars. It might not be exact but if you understand the steps, it should be an easy transition.
That didn't hold up
What didn't? The plastic weld holds great.
I got a buick cascada and the window is glued from outside. Ao should i do this process backwards?
Seems like it would be similar to a windshield install. Should work fine though.
Just got told my 335 heating core might need replacing. Labour cost's are the main price. This repair look pretty difficult tbh. Assumed I could do until i watched this 😅
Don't let the length of it scare you. This guide is literally step by step. Stay organized and it's just time. At the end of the day, you're just removing bolts.
holy moly! Thanks for masterclass
Thanks for that! This job was definitely not easy
Where to get this kit from sir.
Hey the link is in the description for the parts to use.
C-clamp and the old brake pad for the compression...keeps it equal
That's a great tip! Thank you for sharing that! I will be using that one in the future.
This video was big help, Ran into a small issue thou, Maybe someone can shed some light, Code for passenger air bad is on, I've double made sure both plugs are installed properly , code wont erase Turn signals stopped working, Hazards don't work as well, The rest of the stuff works on the stock, So not wiring to steering wheel.
You shouldn't trigger any airbag lights if the battery was unplugged while they were disconnected. If they were, you will need a scanner to reset them
My top separated from the window, but it’s shrunk and won’t stretch back to the window to reglue. Any suggestions?
Tops are supposed to be inelastic. There might not be much you can do if it shrunk besides replace the top.
will this work for a 1998 C-5 Corvette Converible?
I don't see why it wouldn't. Comment back and let me know.
Where are you base ?
USA
I was looking at 150 lb pull neodymium magnets to place on either side of the window, but these clamps look more reliable. Cool invention.
They work well but do even better with a paint stirrer underneath to extend their clamp range.
@@DIYSalvageGuy Thanks for the tip.
if youre still around would like to know the exact jacking point you used to raise the front. TIA
You can use the chassis. You're better off googling it for a visual.
Great video thanks. Is there a lubricant or similar you use when connecting the radiator hoses. Seems impossible to dry fit
I've used a little bit of antisieze before on the gaskets. Works well for removing and installing. A very little bit though.
Fuccckkkk BMW!
But when they work! Am I right?
Hola.
Try to translate to English and I can help. Sorry!

Didn't happen originally. Happy to see this helps you! Best of luck.
@@DIYSalvageGuy I'm writing it to you in English, sorry but it's not a high level: Hello. Thanks for the video After 17 years with my a4 1.8T b7 cabrio I am repairing it again. The first time 7 years ago I took it to an upholsterer and he charged me €300 (in 2017). Now with sika 256 sikaflex and these tools I will do it myself. All the best
Thank you for showing this video. I will NEVER own a BMW after watching it. Goodluck guys...
I got a good laugh out of this. A lot of cars put the heater core under the dash. Maybe others give you access to it though lol.
😂😂😂😂😂 classic
Always take your cars to a frame puller, it doesnt cost that much, you car could be crunched in ways you cant see, and they will be able to do whats needed to straighten your car. Just make sure that the car isnt on the rack any longer than it has too, do all your prep work. Its not worth buying the tools to do that yourself.
You're 100% right. Learned that though this process. I Did have it done professionally.
@@DIYSalvageGuy You never learn until you try unfortunately. 😂
What website are you using to get the diagrams?
I think it was emanualsonline or something like that.
Would have liked to hear you talk through the whole process.
Noted for next time. Thanks.
Hi, thx for the video.. my wife’s x5 is making a similar noise.. could I simply spray white lithium grease on the thrust arm joint without removing it? Or is the grease supposed to go “inside “ something?
There is a rubber bushing in there that tends to make noise over time. You want to get the grease in or around that area. I think it should solve the issue.
GREAT VIDOE BRO!
Thank you!
@@DIYSalvageGuy no problem man
GOLF TSI 2011. MASSIVE THANK YOU for showing how easy this is to do. I've been struggling for months for someone to glue the top of the roof to to the rear glass window. VW said it might cost up to $5,000 and that definitely is excessive considering it's only 7 centimeters that needs to be glued down. Will try this method this weekend. What fix do you recommend for small wear in the canvas that might spread.
Hi Maddie. This channel is all about everyday people in your exact situation. You can do this! As for the roof, you might be able to get a patch glued on, but generally speaking, it is ripping due to fabric degration. That is the first spot, but won't be the last. I haven't had to address that yet.
where do you get the light under the counter top
You can get them on Amazon. Here is a link. amzn.to/48EiSuA
You didn't loosen the fill cap on the reservoir before compressing the cylinders? I've blown up a reservoir from the pressure of compressing the cylinders, forcing all that extra brake fluid back up into the reservoir.
Hi and thanks for your comment. I did not. I've never done that in my jobs, but might be something I do goong forward for precaution. Thanks!
Just did this video step by step with my 2001 vette and so far crazy impressive how well this worked. 22 hours to go but it is sealed tight 2 hours later
I love hearing things like this. So glad it worked for you!
How many clamps did you have to use?
@Rusterman-is7ex I used 6 I wouldn't suggest any less than 5. 4 months later it worked great!
@TherightMike I checked Amazon and those clamps come in a set of six. On my mustang, the top is not overall bad condition per se, just the back window won't stay at the top it's sitting about 1/3 the way down. Also the motor for the rear window only works when it wants to. I know this is just a temporary quick fix, eventually I'm gonna have to replace the whole top. I'll let you guys know in here how the repair job goes. Once the stuff gets here from amazon
Awesome job,I will be doing this to my C6 Vette
Post more car content! Very informative…….
What an awesome comment! Thank you
He never says WHY he had to change the heater core. What were the direct cause for 1 to assume you need to change it out?
It is a how to video. There doesn't need to be a why on my end. You as the end user determine the why. I show you how.
Great job bro I love the video. I found a 2014 s197 that has some major door, fender and quarter panel damage and the power cord was cut by a fireman. The guy is selling it starting at 8k and it has very very low miles (41k)... How much should I make an offer for to buy it?
Impossible to know without seeing the car. Do research and find like vehicles. Find a price and stick to it. Don't go over
Maybe I missed it, but why did you have to replace the HC?
The car had no heat.
@vageGuy and did the heater core replacement fix the problem?
It did. Worked like a charm. It was clogged.
Thanks for the tips. Trying this with my 2014 Mustang top on Saturday.
Hope it works for you as well as it did for me!
Hey Im considering buying the same year mustang that needs the same repair. Was it as simple as it looks and did it last so far?
@@Buckshot96 it wasn’t as simple as it looks. The suctioning cup holders kept coming off and not holding the window. The adhesive is easy to clean off and trim from the outside but the inside wasn’t as easy. Some takeaways, I did do this is the middle of winter but I kept the garage at around 55-60 degrees and that is the minimum temperature. I only had 1 kitties with 6 suction cups. It is water proof now and is definitely better than it was but no where near the professional job this looks to be and I spent 4 days doing this. I have not done this type of work before but we work on Jeeps/cars and anything we can build in my garage. If I had to do it all over again I’d spend $500 to buy a new top to begin with.
@@mikeburris9856 were you doing the whole window? The one I'm looking at is just the very right side of the window so probably a little less than a foot. Thanks for the reply though I appreciate it!
Crying out for help here, I have a B9 Audi A5 and one of the rear seats won’t fold down as the release cable In the trunk has no tension (may have snapped and come off the latch). Any idea how I can get it open to replace the cable? Possible to get the rear seat out while it’s locked? It’s a Cabriolet, so maybe if the lid is in the service position I could access the back of the latch? Thanks
You should be able to get the trim off in the trunk and then pull the cable manually.
what do you think about getting innocence + headhunters glory on the a3 merc for the amp dmg proc?
It could work for sure. You'd have to use enigma and teleport in or I don't think it will proc much.
@@DIYSalvageGuy thx for your answer. ye I think enigma is almost a must on the build anyways (maybe a +3sk que hegan or smth like that could be gg as well)
Great job, lots of work done for sure, nice project for sure!
Thank you! It came out great. Very happy with the whole process.
What's the total price start to finish? Lmk and I'll happily subscribe.
I spent about 10k in total.
Where did you purchase the clamps?
Link is in the description
can i find the clamps on amazon?
Yes! There's a link to the products in the description.
What a waste of my time this crap video is. I don’t know what bolts he was removing, even worse no sound so he didn’t even say what he was removing. If I’m watching a video Is because I want to see and learn what to remove and the right procedure. That’s how certain posted videos differ from being a piece of crap to a great take you by the hand and show how is done.
Thanks for your feedback. I'll try to get better in the future.
I have the clamps and waiting for my order of the 3M product (I had ordered it prior to seeing your video, otherwise I would try the glue. Looks easy. I was wondering what you used, If anything on the inside of the car to temporarily hold the window up? Also, I assume the same process in the seam above the window? I’m not quite sure what to do there. I’m working on my 2002 VW cabrio!
Our project car didn't have too much trouble staying together with the clamps suctioning the window, but you can use anything to prop it up if needed. I'm not sure about the seam, but generally, just keeping it together while the glue dries is all there is to it. Use clamps and some paint stirrers under the clamps for more surface area.
THANKS👌🏾💎👑! I used a lot of your tips on my daughter’s Saturn Sky. I used the quick bond $9 gorilla tube glue from Oriellys & it WORKS! I cheated and didn’t used the clamps but it bonded quickly and let it set for 24hrs. Very easy, clean no mess and a quick DIY Job…! Saved $$$$ as you mentioned and since they too aren’t available new anymore, custom tops are $3000 and used tops selling for $1500.. I’ll take my chances of fixing it myself every couple of years if necessary! And I’ll use the clamps next time IF there is one…..
So glad to hear that! Happy it worked out for you!
