Efectivamente, no era para ella. Lo debutó en 1984 en Guadalajara, asistí a las dos funciones. Ahí, por desgracia, comenzó a declinar.

Bé, con una grande prudenza e una voce (che adoro!), non pienamente adatta a Turandot. Ma grande classe!!!

Her acting is amazing. The only Turandot to really live the part. Every word is mirrored in her facial expressions... and the rising terror when she feels her defeat coming. This is a superb performance. Nilsson sure had some great notes, but her Turandot was a robot. This one is human.

Well …Its not here best Role but by Todsay´s Measure she is very good…No Nilsson ..but also at the End of here wonderful Carrier …here here Aida from the 70´s ..she is fantastic!! just my Opinion….

yo la vi en guadalajara.. magistral. unico, que voz que puesta en escena. nunca se volvera a presentar una puesta asi...... y recuerden solo dios es perfecto... tambien recuerden el gallo de pavarotti en el aniversario del met. en vivo. en rigoletto

Eres injusto. Soy testigo de que la gran Gilda cantó Turandot en forma más que simplemente aceptable en Guadalajara donde fui parte del elenco. Estoy seguro que ningún cantante sabe cómo le van a salir las cosas o que justo va a ser videograbado y que esa noche no dará lo mejor de si. Como en los históricos "gallazos" de Plácido Domingo en el Met. Televisado a nivel mundial justo en el tercer "Gli enigmi". Obviamente Gilda no estaba completamente bien en esta ocasión cualquiera que se la razón.

Si sí, qué bien, compartan sus videos ( para ver que es cierto lo que dicen ); si no, pues no digan nada. La maestra Cruz Romo ha sido, es y será una gran diva mexicana con reputación internacional. Pocas, pero muy pocas artistas han logrado lo que la maestra Gilda ha hecho. Tuve el gusto de verla "en vivo" en su "Tosca" con Plácido Domingo en Monterrey, México en 1978, sin duda una Tosca fuera de serie, con un reparto increíble y con un desempeño igual de increíble. Aún recuerdo que el teatro casi "caía" por la fuerza de los aplausos. Hay muchos kilómetros entre la carrera de una de esas grandes estrellas y cualquier mortal común y corriente que tenga la osadía de criticarlos.

Yo también estuve en el coro del estado de Jalisco, y una de las experiencias más deslumbrantes de mi existencia, fue haberla oído cantar en los ensayos generales a toda voz, de la opera Turandot. La forma en que el teatro era inundado con su increíble voz así como con sus sorprendentes graves de soprano dramática (de las que siempre ha habido muy pocas). Esta fue una verdaderamente inolvidable experiencia que pocos hemos tenido la fortuna de vivir y muchos menos de apreciar.

The great Gilda Cruz-Romo. I had the great opportunity to sing with her in Guadalajara in 1985. I saw her singing Desdemona and Norma but in Turandot she was just amazing. I see that she was great in this production in Mexico City where she seems to be gasping for air (which is understandable given the high of that city), but in Guadajara she was the most incredible voice and acting.
