Shit take, even as a person who couldnt care less abt the game's story and just am an ultimate pf andy its general atmosphere and content is still very fun to level through. Dont deprive yourself of that experience by just skipping everything to do endgame content when that endgame content probably isnt gonna be gone while youre leveling I took my sweet time leveling and such when the current raid tier was eden verse and current ex trial was memoria misera. The raid tier and trial was still eden verse memoria misera when I hit endgame, just enjoy urself.

I've been bitching for YEARS that gil is worthless and by extension crafting is *close* to pointless. I keep ranting about how in XI (BACK IN THE OLD DAYS, HNNNG) money was important and seeing value in everything was cool. You needed money for ammo, food, good gear, to perform! And crafting was still most of the best gear, often killing gods and shit to instead of getting gear, you got a material for special gear! Honestly Arthars already made me think back on it when he says "I am GLAD I don't have to farm NMs and shit so I have enough money at the end of the month". I still wish crafting felt a bit more integral to the core gameplay, though. I just don't even know how anymore.

They should keep the level cap at 100, and do side-jobs, specializations of each job for different skills, specialized skills, etc, kinda like what GW2 did.

When you thought that you are a casual and a smooth brained player, but it turns out that you are better then you thought. Normal mode isn't that hard. Like the second boss of Vanguard. The first time it did the aoe spam move, I was so lost. The second time I ran it, I found a way to cheese it. It just takes a little bit of thought.

On the same note of changing how progression works through story/msq. Maybe I'm weird but I would enjoy doing the normal raids first and then do the story through the savage. As of right now the raid stories are always a bit of a blur as I blast through it in 1 sitting. Being able to digest it between fights would be nice. Same goes for normal trials, I wish I could skip the normals and jump into the extremes while doing story at least for patch quests. Especially during EW going through story and 1 shotting bosses really takes away from the impact of the story. I want to feel like the bosses are actually bosses. The MSQ is too much of a visual novel right now and adding solo duties and gimmick quests only does so much for an MMO. I think allowing you to do the story through the harder difficulties would add impact without really changing much. It doesn't even matter if the savage is not the "canon" fight. Dont get me wrong I dont think story should be gatekept through harder difficulties. Normal mode should stay an options for casuals and racers.

The thing that sticks out to me the most is the fact this guy says for 5 years people have been complaining that the game is too hard. Except they've been saying the complete opposite but okay sorry just this guy has so many contradicting statements across the whole post. It feel like it wriiten by someone that plays for the story then leaves and comes back next expansion. Nothing wrong with that but the rest of the community is going to be improving during that time your away.

Arthars, a carrot is a common word used in game design. The reward or reason to play a game is often called "the carrot" referring to a carrot hanging in front of a treadmill. It's used in the entire English world.

If we're going to remove levelling, then all they have to do is introduce Job Quests again and unlock the skills through there. At least Role Quests will be more involved now. Remember this will make people unlock _all_ Jobs at once if they removed leveling.

The i700 gathering and crafting orange scip sets need a set bonus really bad for the full set, even if it becomes better than the i690 set in a weird way. (The set bonus could be all CP cost is 20% less or something.) the pentamelded i690 can still craft everything, and is for all the jobs while the one orange set is better for just one job.

That is the real shame with DT, it's the point they could have used it as a platform to experiment. Honestly remove the "leveling" dungeons and replace them with unique dungeons where as we level we get to explore "new" content types. New as in, "Deep Dungeon" "Criterion" "Exploration" etc and it could in theory make the world feel more alive. Since yea, even from the start the core concept of the game is 1-50, 50-60, 60-70, 70-80, 80-90 and 90-100 are all for story prog but then 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100 for the .0 release are for all the Endgame content where later on they do add content for lower levels, like "exploration" "Deep Dungeon" being able to start at X0 level of the expansion and level that way granted by the time it is released most players might have everything leveled, which is also sadly where the "Society" quest fail since at that point it honestly is rare how many people would actually use the DoL/DoH to level their classes at that point when the leve/script and even Custom Deliveries give you a ridiculous amount of XP to level with. Maybe they will take more risk with 8.0, it would be fun if we were given more of an opportunity to create our own adventure, as it stands now the journey is very linear in progression because you have to do MSQ to partake in the rest of the game but it would be nice as you say because we are lv 100 now if there was a way to introduce challenging content that isn't just kept for "endgame" content.

Casual is not dificulty, it's time commitment. People who can't dedicate regular time to raiding like me are unable to participate in savage content, so more difficult normal content is a godsend for me. I would love that devs would make "savage practise" that players could practice savage content with trust to learn mechanics. That might even encourage people to do savage on duty finder. They could release them like after a month after savage comes out or a certain amount of clears is reached.

I always thought the job advancement is one part of the unique cores of final fantasy and makes you feel accomplished when you job advanced. I rmb it was rewarding when i got my first job advancement so i really hope they work on that in the future and giving players more incentives for playing existing jobs that have new branching jobs.

I like the idea of doing different content to get merit points, but how would you bake that into other jobs? You just do it on one job, and have everything for all other jobs? That feels far less "progression-orientated" than getting levels. The problem is XIV has to have a time sink for you to keep paying. A gear treadmill or something that keeps their players subbed. I do want meaningful choice in this game, I really do. I wish merit points were a thing to enhance skills, move a class toward supporty versus max dps, things like that.

so a couple of things from the first 10 or so min of the video about set bonsus's and such. - Saying the player base is not ready because they are too casual can literally be levied at any game with these features already in. In pretty much every mmo it is only the top 1-3% of players that actually do harder difficulty raiding. So if players from other games can handle a set bonus i am sure the 14 community can. - Secondly they don't need to be behind hard or tedious grinds, set bonsus's are just part of player progression they are not aspiring rewards like a relic weapon. - When players ask for these features this is what they are really asking for: - I want progression on a class basis level. - I want to differentiate myself from the player next to me even if we are the same job. - I want to customize my character in interesting ways that have gameplay implications on the content i am doing. Nobody said that we need to make the grind to get these things long and tedious. Also not every set needs to have a huge effect on every form of content. Some players might find a AoE driven set great for Fates, Dungeons, etc. while more single target sets are great for a trial. Things like skill trees, sets, etc dont make a game "hardcore" those are just typical rpg things. I think this a very valid criticism of ff14, its so simple when it comes to itemization in the opposite direction that it leaves class/player progression quite wanting. These items can literally be available with tombstones. The impact of these sets could also be very mild and don't have to be complete job defining things, it is totally in the realm of the dev team to make it that way. It gives some additional customization to the player and something very unique to their class to work towards.

It is likely just my WoW nostalgia but I liked the idea of raid gear giving set bonuses that significantly boosted your class's power. Not only through higher stats but through the set itself effecting some of your abilities in minor ways that made typically a big impact. I kinda miss the days when you could walk around and see someone in a full set of raid gear (Before transmog/glamor became easy to use in WoW) because you knew that person was powerful and at least skilled enough to do the raids. And I'd honestly be okay with the fact there would be a significant power gap between those with and with out it as those who want it will go after it while those that don't won't care about the gap to begin with. Plus you don't even need to go for a full set sometimes since even in WoW people would only go after parts of the set and used non set pieces that just had higher bonuses than the full set bonus. But I know getting raid gear in savage already feels sluggish let alone getting a full set and the more casual player base may not like it but I can dream.

Arthars really cooked at 15:00 onward If you complete MSQ, you have enough merits to be "feature complete" as your job, and perhaps excess merits could be spent on cosmetic unlocks - Where the sum total merits in an expansion's content has you fully unlocked on those cosmetics as well as your job. Good stuff Arthars. That Merit idea is so fresh and good. I want it super bad.

  • @letsplayDROD
    @letsplayDRODКүн бұрын

I think people are missing the point of set bonuses. Getting extra stats from having your entire gear be savage drops and having no augmented tome pieces takes the entire gear theorycrafting out of the picture. You don't compare the stats anymore, you just pick what has the set bonus, because it's just better no questions asked. That's not interesting at all. If it's a situation where you get global stats from having all the pieces in your armoury chest, that's different. But even then, that puts way more pressure on loot because everyone needs everything instead of the current situation where certain jobs want the augmented tome piece and not the savage piece.

I think one space where they could maybe make the gear more engaging is in stuff like Unreal content. If they wanted to make Unreal Savage raids, maybe pick a few fights, or one of the tiers, the reward could be updated raid gear with the 2 dye channels and textures. But i think people would want that gear to be good for general play too, but FFXIV doesnt have any systems with its gear, its hard for the them to add new gear at ilvl cap thats actually interesting Ive been saying for a while, but they really need to overhaul gear, in places like Materia. Lets say you added a NEW Materia, call it "Proto-Materia" or whatever. And the effects of those were more objective hard buffs, rather than stat bumps. So slot in a Proto-Materia that gives you a flat 5% Crit chance. Maybe for weapons, you have a "Job exclusive" Materia, that has some kind of major effect on the Job you're playing, like buffing a moves potency, or reducing MP costs, or reducing cast time ect. I think the problem with gear in this game, is that unless you're doing Ultimates... its not really useful and you cant really take it anywhere to "show off" or feel strong. Even for Ultimates, it doesnt feel good, its just a requirement, you need BiS, its not up for debate. And even then, by the NEXT patch, dungeon gear end up beating it out alot of the time. Theres just a strong lack of impact in gear in general. Most of all, and especially now that we have 32 Jobs... they gotta do something about people who WANT to play multiple roles. Im in love with the Melee DPS this tier, i think its probably the best state a single role has been for the entire games duration, all 6 melee slap... But im probably going Tank for Savage again. And then what? Am i going to queue for Week 5 as a Melee? No, why would i? All my gear and progress is on a Tank, id just be griefing. So instead i sit there passively gaining gear for melee.. by not doing content on melee... and then when i have that gear.. theres nowhere to use it.

Set Bonuses cant work cause of the Design Philosophy of FF14 where you can Play every Job on 1 Character. Immagine having a 4pc Bonus for SMN that allows you to do 1 Extra Deathflare on Bahamut....its nice but because you can play every job on 1 Character maybe you swap for Rekills to pct or BLM. You would either need a NPC to change your Gear to a differend Job or you have to collect more than 1 Set. And we already know how outrageous the Raider were on EW cause of the Restrictions of weekly Tomes so they didnt had enough time to collect 2 Sets when Ultimate Released and in the End hadnt that much of flexibility to play a differend job on Ultimate. This would make it even worse. I would love to see Set Boni thoigh since they could give unique Effects to Skills or maybe even change Rotations. But its way easier to Design when you are stick to 1 Job per Character.
