I used to fish off the public dock where the bait shop is that has gas pumps for the boats. I used the catfish guts from the ones I caught the day before. I also used chicken liver. It's best if you leave this bait out in the heat for a day. The smellier the better. Catfish feed in the shallow waters at night and in the deep waters in the day time. Anyway, I casted toward the bank by the bait shop and I caught a 68 lb. blue cat. I live in New Hampshire now and I really miss my night time catfishing there.

The dogs only portion of the season is strictly for training the dogs and allowing them the chance to tree squirrels before the season. no guns allowed in that portion of the season.

But it is not the biggest venom producer in the world. The king cobra, king brown snake/mulga, gaboon viper and Fer De Lance has all been documented producing up to 1125 milligrams of venom and more.

I caught a 50 pound cat in the tail race of Santee with a cut shad tail. Not very big piece of bait. They will eat anything that crosses their path.

In the mid 70's I worked for Clement brothers operating earth moving equipment and helped build this lake. There are several dams on this lake. Near the power plant and the spillway in that corner was a huge pond. It was a natural pond about 50 or more acres. Later I went to work on the power plant as an iron worker. I sat on top of the reactor dome and watched the huge turbines draw water from the Broad river and fill the lake. I was like watching a huge swimming pool fill. It took over a month to fill it. Many fish were pumped from the river into the lake. Monticello is a beautiful lake I would love to live on. Jerry Hubbard Irmo SC

Go to Archie Phillips outdoors. He has a rig for trot lines that’s great. We use a chunk of foam for limb hooks.
