What did you think of this episode? Are you heading to Gen Con this year?
Lovely interview and great production!
Thank you!
Matt Forbeck is one of my favorites!
Agreed!
I think Scott was thinking of Jenny Nicholson when he mentioned a youtuber who has videos on Evermore Park and the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser experience.
Oh, thank you! Going to watch her videos now!
Vince really is a good speaker/communicator. Nice stuff.
And a great guy!
Great video!!
I agree that progression in a game needs to feel earned, but there is one exception if there is any sort of building mechanic, for me at least. When I want to learn the system and build spectacular sites. Here I have no qualms in using console commands to spawn building materials. At this point its only about the building.
This is an excellent point! In that case, it is no different than going into Creative Mode in Minecraft so you can exercise those creative building muscles. But what about a building game where the structures serve a gameplay function (e.g. base defence)?
@@TheCornerOfStoryAndGame well in a situation like that, the Minute Men then its back to play to the rules.
Brilliant interview! What a great guy. Respect for Terry Pratchett, Lao Tze, and Hardcore Histories all coming up within a ten minute window..
Thank you for the kind words! Will is a brilliant guy with so much experience and insight to share.
50:38 “What do game designers / creatives all have in common?”
43:00 “What do you see the future of games looking like?”
Sorry if this is a silly question, but where are the Season One episodes available to watch/listen?
Unfortunately, I haven't had the time to clean up the old video I grabbed of Season One interviews - but the audio lives on The Corner of Story and Game Podcast, which you can find where ever you get your podcasts. podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/corner-of-story-and-game
This podcast was brilliant. Thoughtful questions and great listening from the host, and clearly a brilliant, thoughtful, and creative mind from Alex. Great insights for storytelling, psychology and just some life inspiration. Thank you so much! I hope you get more subscribers soon. This is a lovely project.
Thank you so much! I'm really having a blast doing it, and I am delighted I get to draw these bits of wisdom from the minds of folks like Alex and then share those gems with the world.
