More Tools Than Sense

Why spend 100s of dollars on new parts when you could spend 1000s on tools to make them yourself!

    Those trucks came with a dana 44 front, right? Did you swap the front axle to a dana 60 out of a 89-93 or just stick with a dana 44? I’m thinking about doing this with a 73 quad cab.

    Yes, we stuck with the stock dana 44. My brother may upgrade it in the future but it's been working for the (Very few) miles we've put on it.

    This was really cool to see when I was younger as I was just getting in to dnd and I love tech but now that I’m older and rewatching this I thought of some ideas that could save space and maybe bring back the function of the table in the video that allows the table to be shrink for less people use. 1. the screen pc screens have gotten cheaper and use less power to run so I would strip 3 pc screens and line them out to the edge of the centre of the table wood and there won’t be a bezel line so it will look like a big screen. 2. Each seating position in the draw can have custom number key pad or use a stream deck can tell the pc that player you are using to be character to be move to the chess coordinate positions (to some people thinking that sounds really confusing. Just think it’s layers, map png under and anther png grid) 3. If you have an old android phone easy. Linux on it and it’s a pc, plug a hub in to it for the screens and the keyboards and mouse 4. For the dm can have a custom dm screen, instead of the traditional dnd screen it can be a usb monitor and the sides be what ever you won’t more screens yep, traditional print for stuff you need to go back and find with out looking it yep, whiteboard with magnets yes as well. 5. Instead of keeping a lot of books on hand, use a note pad program called obsidian it like windows word but more themed around a notepad with a lot of community add on ( I’m not listing them as this is just ideas ) add on one specific file and it will give you all the dnd info you need, need to look for something in the books as it’s all been converted to a text file for notepad program so you can search in obsidian highlight, pin or reference it using a obsidian text command and it’s there ready to go there’s videos on KZread if you don’t get it 6. Use obs program to run your table screens as it would be a pain to do what this guy did in the video. Good job using what you got and know but for me I rather not hert my back anymore it is from being 6 foot 4 Take it or leave just idea I’m putting out there for others

    What is the size of your 2 pulleys and how did you do so that your pulley does not scratch with the outer brackets of the engine? Did you increase the height of the pulley or add the pulley on top of your part that goes over the engine?

    This and the original video are sick and I love them not to mention how much I wish I had a table even close to this. That said I’ll also offer one criticism as well from the TTRPG side of things. It’s said that to be a properly randomized roll from a dice tower your dice needs to have at least 3 contact points with the inside of the tower. Otherwise your rolls are lacking in randomness. If I were to buy a tower like this personally that’s definitely something that I’d not only be looking for but would be a dealbreaker for me. If you look into towers online you’ll find the good ones always try to include 3+ platforms for dice to roll off of. Obviously it might be a bit difficult to include this in your table ones but if you’re selling these out and about I’d suggest making a larger sized one for sale maybe? That way folks have an option of how randomized they want to get.

    I would love to just be a part of doing something like this. currently working as a CMMS tech for a major corporation, using data to make sure I keep the parts on hand for a fleet of warehouse PIT equipment, and a mezzanine conveyor belt system. But I do all my car work myself, maintenance, and mechanic, my daily driver is a Acura TL... if I only had the tools, it would be a mad max/knight rider car, its about 40% there. At the same time I being pulled by 2 different fields - mech/engineer (mechanical and electrical), and tech (software and hardware) plus administration its so hard to find the time to focus on motors and electronics when my job is all about parts and work load assignments., and I wanted to be doing like server admin stuff by now, but still major intrigued by this type of work. i think its awesome!

    So how has this table held up as far as heat dissipation goes? Can't imagine a whole of of passive airflow cooling the PC and TV from below, especially while people are seated at the table. Just seems like the whole table would heat up significantly especially after a long 4+ hour DND session

  • @seanbirger3036
    @seanbirger30364 ай бұрын

    So 2 years later and the TV still works perfectly, The stupidly large PC has no problems with cooling whatsoever. However I have switched over to using a tablet as a DM screen, mainly because it was too hard to see the screen clearly from the back corner of the table and so I could run extra apps for music and whatnot without disturbing the map display.
