Any time villages shrinking or disappearing is used in this series to denote the passage of time I think about all the media in Japan that makes a note about the dwindling populations in rural villages or towns that aren't big cities. Most people move to go to Uni, but not many of them seem to move back home. (Ofc in a setting like Frieren's, merchants live on the go, and farmers are susceptible to monster attacks, so populations dwindle unless there's a defense in place anyway) Also, I like that we can't visually tell the diff between Fern's good mood braids and her bad mood braids, but since it's Frieren's hair being braided she definitely knows if Fern's in a good or bad mood lol

The rumour is that the manga will resume August 7th according to some sources. We will see if that's true or not in less than 2 weeks. I think the mangaka wants to make up the lack of Stark we got in the exam arc because best boy was very missed.

18:00 I see what you did there. Well I guess when you write some fantasy story with elves in it, it is hard to get around associations with LotR. Especially later on with the hard bread and lembas bread you can not get around it. In any case 300 Reich"s" gold coin equal to 500 Strahl gold coin or in other words enough to sustain 3 people for 50 years when we equate it to what Stark earned for impersonating the son of Lord Orden. That is a BIG loan they have taken when it gone up to that much in just 80 years. I cracked up a little when you incerted the "sch" sound into Boshaft. It really is not only a disgusting drink but a mouthful for real.

Maybe part the recording on one day into 3 chapters and read the next day the other 3 so you don't torment yourself and us to long seeing your reaction weeklyish? After that you have 77,78,79,80 loosely themed chapters before THE arc starts. So this could be another video. I can not give a recommendation how to split it up THE arc, maybe ask how others think you should split it.

The aphrodisiacs', as I udnerstnad, were something Jinshi was asked to get by the Emperor. At least that's how I always understood it when I watched it. It's less he passes htem to servants and more that he was asked to get them by the boss.

The teapot steamed comment means Jinshi is aware of the mushrooms and wants in on them. 16:14 Maomao's freckles are like Clark Kent's glasses, makes people overlook them. Now Jinshi is laying claim to Maomao like Lady Gyokuyou, but no body clues Maomao in on the significance of the hairpins so the misconceptions begin. Remember the burns on a ladies dress, and Jinshi is looking for some one with a burn, it's not a rash it's a burn.

Reaction videos are just that, a reaction. One reason I like reaction vids, is to see how people react. If someone does not talk/say anything, it is not a reaction, it is a review. Your videos are enjoyable, because you react. I enjoy how you show emotions in your reactions. Your voice is enjoyable, and relaxing to listen too. You seem honest in your reactions, and appear to enjoy doing so. If you did not do that, then that would make the video boring. 3:30 Haha... this one took me a while to put together: In episode 2 a military officer sent buns with aphrodisiac to Jinshi to seduce him. Jinshi pulled a reverse uno card, gave the aphrodisiac made by Maomao to a female palace servant and made her (or helped her) seduce the "woman hating" (gay) military officer as revenge.

The author is sneaky about dropping little verbal asides that don't bear fruit till several episodes later. We had many "Oh! they said that back in episode X that's why this is happening!" Sometimes we didn't even pick up on things till we rewatched the episode.

Maomao is rly well written. And how woman can change drastically the mood xD . As a male nurse i like the coincidence of care taking in this anime. i can remember from a chinese friend that the H is actually pronounced as F, but its only a guess. Maomao explain to lihua the "Paizuri".

I heard that about how the name is pronounced! I watched the dub and they pronounced her name sort of like I was so I just copied it haha, but they also pronounced it like Lifua sometimes too it was hard to discern sometimes

I have my problems with japanese for example, the only thing whats makes easier is the pronunciation as a german. Japanese has actually no accent like rolling R in american english or british or the H. But it doesnt make it better xD

And the show just gets better and better. I like how it's shown that Maomao is the kind of person who gets angry for other people, like Tanjiro. She suffers all of that abuse in the beginning of the episode in total silence; but the moment she realizes their ignorance is harming someone else she flips. Nice details (some of which I only caught on later viewings): When Maomao is talking with gossipy friend, Xiaolan (I love that they're still friends even after Maomao's promotion), the animation of their eating routine is also low-key well done. I love how Xiaolan shuffles her bowls around because she's switching from side dish to her rice or something. Maomao winds up for her slap slowly and early, showing how much she's holding back her anger. After the steam bath is built everyone is more in step with Maomao's commands. You can see the ladies-in-waiting carefully watching how Maomao does the laundry, or that the chef taking notes looks less confused and more confident. It's not explicitly noted, but with the era this story is set the whitening powder was most likely lead based like the one used by Queen Elizabeth I, Venetian ceruse. The attention to detail in the decor from one palace to another reflects aspects of the concubines' personalities. I'm not super knowledgeable about flowers, but the patterning in the drapes for Gyokuyou shows something like carnations or roses, maybe a rhododendron, and are big and vibrant. Lihua's patterns are more like lilies and bellflowers, with graceful curves and a more demure aura. Actually, something I only just noticed because I have the show paused while Maomao is talking to a healthy Lihua, that the drapes behind the vases have spider lilies here and there, much like the one in her head ornament. Can't wait for the next one, keep up the good work!

The attention to detail in the decor from one palace to another reflects aspects of the concubines' personalities. I'm not super knowledgeable about flowers, but the patterning in the drapes for Gyokuyou shows something like carnations or roses, maybe a rhododendron, and are big and vibrant. Lihua's patterns are more like lilies and bellflowers, with graceful curves and a more demure aura. Actually, something I only just noticed because I have the show paused while Maomao is talking to a healthy Lihua, that the drapes behind the vases have spider lilies here and there, much like the one in her head ornament.
