  hey i have samba 3.0 what should i do, i tried username map script, then pay reverse tcp, but it doesnt work

  It's odd that your machine would be running samba 3.0 as the VM's are not updated and should theoretically be identical to everyone who downloads them. Are you sure it's the Kioptrix 1 machine? There are several machines in the same series that look very similar. If not, I would still be following the same process. Use Metasploit search function to look for an exploit that works for Samba 3.0

  Hard to know without seeing your system but I would guess it's the payload. Try selecting a different payload and see if that works.

  You can use dirb with its default options with just the command "dirb <URL>". You can also install gobuster with the command "Sudo apt-get install gobuster" if you prefer.
