I agree with what you say about his view of conscience not being that great. I can explain the theory, but I don’t think I could argue it (and I enjoy arguing sides that I don’t even agree with). It just feels unnecessary and like he was trying to sound smart lol.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was the modern origin of what later became known as "Situation Ethics" in Christian discourse. He based his ethics off an existentialist interpretation of Lutheran Christocentrism and humanism.

I think the problem is that the example you had for consequentialist are not moral situations. They are not moral dilemma unlike the Dirk Willem case.

the act v rule at the top confuses the picture representation below, please place them accordingly. it should be Rule v Act basing it on the position of the picture on the screen, but overall it was a good explanation. Thanks!

At 9:40 when you give the rule Utilitarian example from thou shalt not kill. That actually looks a lot like a computer where you give it a rule to follow but then write in certain exceptions to the program. Think about how a firewall works. You start with the basic principle: Do not let any traffic into the network except the ones defined on this list. This is definitely not the same as ACT utilitarianism where by you have to judge each situation one at a time. If I had to judge each piece of data individually, there would be simply no way I could write a program to do that.

I think the theory would become better if the idea of morality and human rights were added in the hedonic calculus and given a lot of weightage.

I would argue that the three examples used to argue that predictions are impossible were actually very predictable. To introduce wildlife outside of its natural environs is known to present a problem because the new wildlife has no natural predators in the new environment. This is why you're asked the questions they ask you when going through customs, to ensure that you're not going to cause this problem. The same thing with the safety devices, where a knowledge of human veracity would allow you to predict that we'd be riskier. Similarly, if a celebrity brings attention to something, especially if that thing is something as obscure as a single photograph that they want to sue someone over, people will be very curious as to what has caused the celebrity to act in such an odd way and thus more people would see the photo than otherwise would have. These are all predictable events, so are we then to believe that consequences actually aren't as difficult to predict as one might think?
