  You will never be able to know how tragic it was unless you were there during that time or were affected by the loss people suffered. But it's nice to see how much people care about what happened that day. My mom and dad were out there searching that day and I remember how terrifying the scene was. Pictures and videos do no justice in showing how tragic and horrible it truly was. I lost friends to this mudslide I remember the day they had found my closest friend and she was confirmed dead I was horrified. I'm glad that there was so many kind hearted people that showed their kind support to our small little town. People out of our town will never be able to understand from our point of view every one in this town knows everyone else. In this town every one is family. 2014 was the worst year of my life but through it all this helped our town come closer then ever.

  Those metal ties that are spaced throughout the track are actually bent down at the ends and sunk into the ballast. What gets me is that the derail looks open as they go backwards through it. I could have sworn that I've seen them stop on the way up to close it, and to open it once the train is past. I wonder if those are sprung or something.
