Jaco was also a fantastic visual artist, and likely knew about the Dadaist game known as the "Exquisite Corpse" in which a piece of paper would be folded in four and then given to 4 different artists who were told they were drawing a person in 4 parts: Head, chest, pelvis, legs & feet. But they could not look at what the others had drawn. This was the same way this piece was "composed" with all parts recorded separately with none of the musicians knowing what the other had played. Bravo Jaco! (The Dadaists formed in Zurich, Switzerland at the outbreak of WWI when a number of artists fled there to avoid fighting in a war which they believed was absurd.

Gifted in the truest sense of a songwriter, but also in vocals. I can tell he knows a lot about guitar work as well. Destined to be heard! And heard often!

My understanding is he is uncompromising in his principles. Music companies and promoters want him to be a "certain way" and, well, he ain't gonna do it. Listen to him sing about faith and spirituality. And so he's a small fish so far. But I think that's about to change.

For all the Ben, Jack and Kalai comparisons: I've seen all three live and I think Kalai put on the best show. He has better licks and vocal range than Ben.He really only needs to be compared to Ben; if you play a Jack Johnson CD at a train station, you've essentially been to A J.J. concert. For what it's worth, that's my take. I don't know if it's online anywhere, but Kalai does a Voodoo Chile medley that transcends time and space.
