My mom grew up with his sons in highschool. Very tragic story, this man knows real pain and is beyond tough. Sad that many Canadians do not even know who he is though great men will live forever

Forcing the innocent to pay nonvictims for something that happened to neither of them is not reparations. Reparations is actual proven victims being compensated by their actual violators. I don't know of anybody who opposes that.

I knew Mitch his only remaining son when he was just 17 years old. I worked part time at the Education Center in Toronto doing caretaker work in the summer so did Mitch . Even back then Mitch talked about his brothers and said they were crazy. Mitch might have gone on to play professional football but he got injured at Florida State. He ended up a gym teacher at Western Tech. All in all a very sad story, now at age 86 George is fighting dementia.

Man i wish i had a father like this !! My father dropped me like a hot potatoe , as he found out I'm on heroin , but im thankful i never touched heroine again its now 18 years ...i found the strengh and the will within myself

George Chuvalo was and is a great man. Physically just a freak of nature and a chin of iron. Would easily be HW champ today. Look how sharp he is with his speech never showed any signs of boxing. Just a good guy. Our champ

There are and have been many intelligent boxers - the Klitschko brothers, Henry Cooper, Sugar Ray Leonard are just a few who come to mind. But boxing has historically attracted people from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds, probably more so than other major sports. And unlike the other major American professional sports (specially football and basketball), professional boxing does not draw the vast majority of its athletes from organized collegiate athletics. As a result, I think pro boxers tend to be a bit less educated than other pro athletes. Also, boxing naturally involves repeated head injuries, which over time can result in dismissed cognition and speech abilities. As a result of these factors, I think, many boxers aren't very well-spoken. That has been my personal observation, anyway. This is just one person's opinion, and I do not mean to denigrate boxers generally. On the contrary, I have the utmost respect for anyone who has the courage to get into a boxing ring in formal competition.
