I do have a question. With the pipe bowl being 90 degrees to barrel does not seem proper

Forward 2 years and I picked one up new for 85 euros. What you get for that price is most definitely good value for money for any beginner. After all, it's about 1000 euros cheaper than the first brand name wheel you'll come across and that's a solid chunk of change that shouldn't be overlooked.

Would I be able to make pots for plants? Maybe even a Terra Cotta pot? I know you said it can do a 10-12" pot, but I've never done pottery before and have always wanted to try. Would love to make some homemade pots for my garden. TIA and great video!

can i make a pipe using air dry clay and varnish it with epoxy resin ?

No, air dry clay is never food safe and resin can’t be burned and is also not safe.

Hey I’ve been wanting to make a pipe that has two pieces, a stem and a bowl, and I was wondering if there was a way to keep it from held together but also able to be pulled apart
@juicedraven626 Жыл бұрын
I think you would have to fire all the three pieces separately, so they don’t stick together in the kiln

I bought one of these too, when my plate comes into contact with water and clay it releases a bit of black liquid, is this normal? it looks like iron powder that melts
@eloisefischer-fortney9107 Жыл бұрын
This is pretty normal actually for all wheels including the high end ones! It’s from the aluminum in the wheel head but it’s harmless. If you want to avoid it, try putting less pressure with your hands against the metal.

What kind of clay can I use?Im a beginner and I got polymer clay that you bake in the oven.
@eloisefischer-fortney9107 Жыл бұрын
You cannot use polymer clay as it’s not safe for smoking out of. You need to use real clay that gets fired in a kiln to at least 2200°.

I just like how you are a positive person. Some people would just beat this little wheel up and say if you can't get the best don't even try. You on the other hand remained positive and told the things that were decent about the wheel and the group of people this would work for. In a world so negative we need more people like you!

I considered very similar wheels for my first. I've actually brought a stand up treadle wheel that's about thirty years old. I had to fix the treadle bar and grease it up and it's been really interesting how different throwing on it is, rather than the electric one I first had a go on. It lives outside too but I'll retreat to the garage in the winter. It cost £45 pounds from ebay, heavy as hell and got bags of clay with it too. I'll be building or looking out for a cheap kiln soon.
