Can you find a steel rod, who's outside diameter is damn near the inside diameter to the steerer tube's? Try to insert it, whilst also heating the outside of the tube with a gas torch? You have a nice big vice, great...maybe some heat-proof gloves may help you. Anyway, you're consulting a frame builder, who knows much more that me, no doubt! I do think the original fork can, and definitely should be, saved. I look forward to the next episode, nice to end on a cliff-hanger, can he turn a Raleigh Bummer back into a Raleigh Bomber we all wonder!

Galium....it melts into a liquid at very low temp and if the alloy is CLEAN the gallium absorbs into the alloy and changes the structure of the atoms leaving it brittle and easy to remove. Put frame upside down. Plug the top of seat tube. Use a syring with a long small diameter hose to remove the gallium from the vial and put the hose through the B.B. and right up to the area with the stuck alloy seatpost and inject the gallium into the area. Usure good coverage and keep the area warm. Clean very the area very well after so no gallium remains after the reaction which can vary in time. If you try this , good luck, is better to try this if you want to keep the paintwork intact. Check out videos of this gallium here on YT 👍

Hi mate. Great video, thanks! I built a bike about 10 years ago and started running out of funds so started throing used parts at it. I ended up with the Hope mini brakes in your video. I had to use washer and shims to get it just right over the disc. I built my bike around 2014, I didn't relaise how old the brakes were. When my son was born the bike spent a number of years in the garage but I'm on it again now, but it needs a service, badly! Can I ask, how would you replace the fluid for these? I want to replace it from the bottom up but, if possible, but can't find a suitable kit. Any advice?

@@MonkeyShred I'm currently riding a SINGLE TREK 920, but the bike I rode before was a black spacialized hardrock bike with cantilever brakes. But strangely enough, the cable always broke when I used the brake, and no matter how many times I replaced it, the symptoms were the same. The problem was later solved by replacing it with aluminum alloy V-brakes. Unfortunately, the black bicycle in my memories was scrapped because the water in the frame froze, expanded, and burst due to carelessness in the winter.

I had a Delta V 1000, bought it brand new in 1993 and I still regret not getting the Delta V2000 instead….really did not enjoy the Suntour shifting at all. I ended up riding my Delta V900 most of the time. Not only because I build it up with a complete XTR group, but also the Delta V 1000 was really bad at XC type riding. Could not stand the constant pulling of the chain/pedal kick back every time the rear suspension compressed. My First Super V had the same issue. First full suspension cannondale I started riding more than my hardtail was my Active Super V. Anyways, cool retro build, and kudos for actually racing and competing on it! 🍻👏👏

Glad it’s not just me. I thought I’d set the bike up wrong at first when I noticed the kick back on the test ride. I didn’t notice it too much in the race though. The Suntour shifting is a bit more precise or stiffer because of the upper jockey wheel having no float. Yeah it’s a bit annoying but I do love the shifters.
