I used to be a switcher at the Memphis hub. I honestly do miss it.

Nice job man. In our facility though, we still do peep hole checks, even during closing. You just never know. Cheers from SLC 841.

How many interviews did you go through before you were the title of switcher ?
@prolapsedbutterfly849122 күн бұрын
It was really easy. The biggest thing with the interview is not even the interview; it's passing the drug test and having good attendance. It's not a hard interview; they just ask you questions like, Give me an example where you found a problem in your work and what did you do to correct it?. just stuff like that.

What’s the outbound shift hours
@prolapsedbutterfly849122 күн бұрын
It depends on the station or hub you work at. My station is a small station, so the outbound hours for us are like 4 to 5 hours. If I were a part-time PH, it'd be like 2 or 3. which isn't that good for hours, but hubs run 24-hour shifts to 8-hour shifts. It just depends on where you work.

The trailers I was pulling off were all outbound trailers, all empty, and all closed. The only people in the building at this time are managers and switchers. If I were pulling trailers during the sort, 100% of the time, I'd look, no questions asked. Bad habit, though we should still look, but we were all in a hurry because we don't get that much time to set up the building for the sort

What’s the requirements to become a switcher at FedEx?
@prolapsedbutterfly8491Ай бұрын
Driver's license and a little trailer experience I didn't really have much trailer experience, but if you get lucky, they'll teach you. But it just depends because there are two switcher types. There are no CDL switchers; these guys only move trailers on FedEx property. That's what I am. then you have CDL switchers. These guys move trailers between two different warehouses or something. I'm not too sure what the CDL switchers do. But in short, if you're applying for a no CDL switcher position, all you need is a driver's license and to pass a drug test. If you have no trailer-backing experience, it's really not that hard. They are more than likely going to teach you because not many people can pass a drug test, and switchers are a rare breed, so I'm told worth a try :)
