Balsa plank style line-control airplanes often were sold with similar wing blanks. The plans usually had you profile a normal wing shape with a wood rasp, files or sanding blocks. Better kits included balsa profiled leading edge sticks that we could glue on. Foam is easy to round over the edges with the same kind of tools. There's no way to add color without adding weight. Colored tissue paper is one of the lightest methods and also makes foam stronger. Water down some white glue to a water like solution and apply a very thin coating to the model with a spray bottle set to mist. The precut colored tissue paper can be layed on top of this misted surface but wait until it dries to a tacky state otherwise the color could run in the tissue paper. The jap tissue paper supplied with kits didn't run but cheap crepe paper for example would streak and run like crazy when it gets wet. We actually glued down the tissue paper on balsa wings and bodies and after the glue was dry we misted the tissue paper with water until it was soaked. It would shrink up even tighter than silk once it dried. There's probably a video these days of someone covering an airplane model with tissue.

It may cost a lot more but gallows makes the best wooden airplanes. They’re expensive but they come out beautiful and they have all inch instructions and illustrated plans. It’s worth the money I used to build them all the time. I don’t support China.👎👎😎 good luck👍👍😄

905 strange wing. apparently, no center section. the vert-stab could be a little taller. should be equal to slightly less-than fifty percent of the horiz-stab span. d

727 'adding' mass at the tail should be avoided. dom, remember. maybe, glue fillets would do the job, with less mass. obviously, the use of a tail wheel makes the tail Heavier. did you even consider using a (low-mass) skid. 733 there should be NO extra, cosmetic bends in a PUSHROD.! this is not an opinion. d

005 the slope of the vert-stab le is/was excessive. about 75 degrees is nominal. for a miniature vert-stab. there is one problem with making a tail boom from a panel material. it is this: there Will be excess mass in the tail boom, Unless corrective steps are taken.! specifically, construction of the tail boom should accommodate the use of (mass-reducing) cutouts. 150, 915 for a tail dragger, the main lg should be located directly below the wing leading edge. this is not an opinion. for proof, look at full-sized tail draggers. 515 servos go Near the cg, not aft-of it.! this is not an opinion. it's about distribution of mass (dom). similarly, the mass of aileron servos should be located forward-of thirty percent of chord. there is Nothing Wrong with a long pushrod.! assuming it is correctly made/fabricated and installed. conversely, there is 'nothing good' about a short pushrod. 920 the use of full strip ailerons is not recommended, on anything that is not a cropduster.! 924 the root chords of the stabs Should be Equal in length. d

You can shape the foamboard in the same way if you peel the paper off and then glue several layers together, it's not going to be as strong as the balsa thought.
