    I’m listing the people where I’m pretty sure the movie is coming out this year. Actor: • Daniel Craig (Queer) • Coleman Domingo (Sing Sing) • Sebastian Stan (A Different Man) *I don’t think Apprentice is happening and I think this is getting in for Makeup. • André Holland (The Actor) • Nicholas Hoult (Juror No. 2) Actress: • Amy Adams (Nightbitch) *Probably will win Makeup, I’m calling it now* • Zoe Saldoña (Emilia Perez) • Angelina Jolie (Maria) • Mikey Madison (Anora) • Ryan Destiny (The Fire Inside) *Never underestimate sports movies. I also have more faith in Barry Jenkins’ writing than I am Eric Roth’s. I also don’t think Joker 2 is happening beyond the techs. Maybe in other award shows like Globes. But I don’t think it’ll get into BAFTAS. It’s a jukebox musical. Those don’t normally do well.

    I heard Fred Hechinger is actually the main villain. Barry Keoghan was supposed to be the antagonist of Gladiator, but then was replaced by Hechinger. I think Joseph Quinn is also a villain, but I’m pretty sure he’s not the main villain. I bet it’s probably some sort of rivalry between the two emperors for Washington’s approval. That’s what I’m betting

    "Kinds of Kindness" is a name about a film which some critics have already hailed for its human cruelty. The reviews and clips with spoilers already tell me enough, and it's a definite pass. So KoK is not a fit for me because cruelty for its own sake is just sick. We already know that spiritual (or call it psychological) sicknesses (twisted codependency, violent dominance and submission, so on) are part of the human condition. But the sickness needs to be stopped in the story, or redeemed, or moved forward from, whatever that might mean to someone, or we're just internalizing a civilized version of stomach-turning barbarism in film. Not good for our souls. Thus I oppose this type of offering filmically and vote with my wallet by not going to see it. Much like the SCOTUS decision that allowed unfettered unlimited and "dark" money to corrupt US politics goes by the misnomer "Citizens United" (from a misnamed entity imo in the litigation and appeal), "Kinds of Kindness" is a horrible joke of a name, We laugh sometimes as reaction when the meanspirited desperate behavior is so over the top in a film we don't know how to cry in a theater with other people around. So I understand the reviewer's reaction --- but I don't applaud Yorgos and his cast for giving it to him. Btw, I appreciated "Poor Things" by Yorgos and found Emma Stone and the rest of the cast to be brilliant while edgy, and deserving of all awards. For talented actors to bond so thoroughly with Yorgos that they are willing to appear in such cruel fare as putative "Kinds of Kindness" appears to me as its own type of cruel codependency. Just saying. Others free to disagree. Everybody has an opinion. Kumbaya.

    Lady Gaga has an Oscar for her song Shallow, a Best Actress nomination for A Star is Born, and she won other critic awards including the Golden Globe for American Horror Story. Grammys too. She just needs an Emmy and Tony to get an EGOT. She may very well get nominated and make it a competitive race but there may be some jealousy among the Academy voters who might want to give the Oscar to a more deserving "actor" especially one that does not have an Oscar.

    A Different Man won the Silver Bear for best actor for Serbasian Stan... surely that's something else it should be in conversation for? If The Apprentice does really good and Stan is really good in it, I can see him getting recognition for both roles but the Academy nominating him for A Different Man. Both because they might be uncomfortable with nominating someone for playing Trump, no matter how unflattering the portrayal is, going with the 'any publicity is good publicity' (Bush aand Cheney were not participating in the elections as candidates when Vice was nominated), and secondly because it seems his character is a very clear sole lead and focus in A Different Man, which doesn't seem to be quite the case in The Apprentice from what I'm hearing.

    I don’t understand why everyone has decided that Lange will be the only nomination for the movie. When you look at the play’s history, the only time that the mother was the only sole character to be nominated was when Lange played it, so I get that. But every other time, the father and brother are often nominated for lead and supporting. The father is actually a much bigger role than people give it credit for. In the original production, the father was the only actor to win a Tony despite all three being nominated (and that role often wins Tony’s). The play is on the West End right now with Brian Cox, Patricia Clarkson and Daryl McCormack, and while they’re all getting praise, Cox’s praise stands out. I think Ed Harris has a bigger shot than people give him credit for

  • @jibrilleo
    @jibrilleo3 ай бұрын

    The reference is the film adaptation. Only Katharine Hepburn got the Oscar nom. Also, if we go for the Oscar roles, the father role is not precisely the type of role they tend to nominate in this category. For all the talk of the Tonys, the film medium is different, especially with the Oscar type.
