2:24 This shit its good. For what i know Abrams SA like the one in Ukraine have the Tungsten Alloy armor that was dev for Australia instead of the DU. That Armor as show in the video have about the same Protection as the Gen2 or Gen3 DU armor. And only the most recently Gen4 its superior to the Tungsten armor dev for Australia.
Im suprised that in DU it traveled little further than in tungsten.

The idea is to check if the speed of the projectile crosses the armor plate without barely moving it and without modifying its inclined plane or if, on the contrary, it is modified by the impact, increasing the effectiveness of the armor against the projectile. Everyone commenting how the video is "useless" because it demonstrates the plates at an angle where they don't work. But that actually IS the point of the video: This style of arraying the internal armor is a significant disadvantage because you have to be facing any and every enemy directly at all times, otherwise your turret loses ALL armor efficacy at any other angle of attack. This is T-72B turret, but the quartz core filling + displaced ball composite armor style of T-72A turret would have actually been more effective (but M829 debatably will go directly through both turrets armor suites regardless).

those plates are angled in a very weird way and I feel would be completely useless in stopping anything that isn't fired from directly above the tank.
