Midlife Motorcycle Diaries

Midlife Motorcycle Diaries

IT'S NEVER TOO LATE!
There are lots of great Moto Vloggers out there putting out brilliant content for adventure motorcycling, big trip touring, bike reviewing, technical fixes, etc. All of them doing a great job! This channel is different. We are a couple who came to riding late in our lives (50 and 53) and wanted to encourage all of you out there who might think it's too late to start to get geared up, get your leathers on and just ride! We're no experts, we've no idea how to fix mechanical problems, we just love riding our bikes. If you ride as a couple and/or came to biking late you might find our channel of interest. If so, please like, subscribe and comment. We look forward to hearing from you!

    For every vlogger that makes a video of their EU trip, there are 100’s like me that just go and do it. Took an action camera but, it stayed in my bag and not attached to the bike. Besides sunshine, a country road with hedges is par for the course in motorcycle touring.

    An observation, as a former advanced police driving assessor I would humbly recommend some advanced motorcycle rider training for Sue's safety. At the start of your video the footage shows her continuing to indicate left whilst turning right on a roundabout and then cancelling her indicator quite late. Very confusing for following traffic. I know the use of indicators in France is somewhat optional but we can do better, Your steady riding style is to be commended especially on trips abroad and I do enjoy your exploits.

    Hello if you feel this question is either too personal or dare I say impertinent please feel free not to answer it,I have observed that both yourself and Sue aren't the type of people who change your bikes on a whim so at what mileage and age do you begin to think about buying a new bike?Many thanks for the great vids cheers.

  • @midlifemotorcyclediaries
    @midlifemotorcyclediaries12 күн бұрын

    Thanks Ken - we’re happy to answer your question! We both love our choice of bikes and really wouldn’t want to swap them for anything else, so we tend to keep them for at least 3 years (warranties usually run out by then) but because we are not mechanically minded and we can’t fix problems or even do basic maintenance when things start going wrong we believe it’s time to change. We make sure they are both serviced at the dealership on a regular basis and would only consider changing them if they start to let us down. Sue loves her 900 and to be honest, there is nothing out there that would tempt her at the moment - if she did change it would be a trade in for the new 900! My 1250 is the best bike I’ve had, it does everything I need it to do. Hope that helps! 😀👍

  • @kencarrcarr3751
    @kencarrcarr375112 күн бұрын

    Thanks for your honesty I usually change my bikes due to mileage not age at around about 50,000 miles.I own a Pan European ST1300 with 32,000 miles on the clock and a Pan America Special 1250 with 7,000 on the clock trade in values of bikes are appalling at the moment and in no way do they represent the new retail purchase price so I'll just keep mine until they die then buy new once again tatar.

    Sorry, but there's no blue cheese in your Roquefort. The famous cheese is made 326 km away in Roquefort-sur-Soulzon, which is near the Millau Viaduct. It is best eaten locally as it can get very smelly in the bottom of a pannier 😂

There is so much all going on at the same time you have to plan who you want to listen to etc, I saw Richy Vida a few times with the missenden flyer but never got to listen to his talk or get to say hello. This was my 4th time and for the first time I took my bike (a brand new Himalayan 450) around the Bridgestone trail - first time off road too. It was not without incident but that’s what we ride for haha.
