AMEN!!!!! I am always stunned how authoritative people try to sound talking about these things when THEY DON'T JUST CHECK THE F$&!ING WAVEFORM DURING TRANSITIONS AND TESTS!!!!! There is a serious lack of quality control or watchdogs for the non-professional market... in order to get sales and fat profit margins these companies will get away with "sine curve murder" as it were. In the end the only way to guarantee "what you see is what you get" under all conditions is dual conversion UPS. Otherwise you are depending on the UPS ability to navigate the tricky middle ground between "bad sine wave it can correct for" and "switch to batteries".

It wasn't, during normal outage the switchover was perfectly good, but during self test there was additional garbage being generated for a brief moment, as if it was cutting in and out additional filtering stages for some unknown reason, this behavior was knocking out power supplies and computers were shutting down. I've made a long thread on APC forums about this issue but they have taken the forums down since. They deemed the UPS faulty as well. It started misbehaving few years into commission. Noticed equipment reset not during power outages but when it was doing the impossible to disable self tests.

When someone (often from the medical profession) tells you Oxygen is explosive (highly or otherwise) show them this video. And then be sure to tell them:- a) Bollocks! Are what keep his/her ears apart!! b) They should seriously consider retaking the chemistry side of their medical degree. c) The test for pure oxygen is that it re-lights a glowing splint - it doesn't bloody explode! d) Find another Doctor!!

@@ryanhernandez8324 What exploded? Is the glass still intact? Nothing exploded. It is re-ignighting a glowing splint. The simple high school test for oxygen. Oxygen is needed in order for anything to combust (the exceptions being certain chemicals which are their own oxygen generators). Oxygen is one side of the "Fire Triangle", remove it and the fire goes out.

What is the issue? It's supposed to output "approximated sine wave", so that's what we see when running off the battery.

LOL ok there is "simulated sine wave"... and then there is "inverter so cheap it is a 3 state plus/minus/zero without any filtering". Sadly this is what the UPS companies get away with in a non-professional/consumer market.
