Dude, Arrau is like triple S tier, but I’ll give you time to mature into that opinion, but Argerich is hot air wafting out of a garbage truck and is middling at best, I tend to agree with all of the others you took a major dump 💩 on 😂 and of course Barenboim is just a sewage leak coming out of oo-CHEE-da’s factory at the GROVE-nor recycling facility. Make another list with all of the other pianists that were mentioned in the comment section for a better video. Anyway, thanks for the laughs.

Wonderful collection, hard to disagree with, although I hang my head in shame (which makes typing this a chore) I had never heard of your compatriot Hmelnitsky until you included him here. I shall certainly delve into his works from this day forward, thank you!| P.S. fret not about not bring ever present on KZread - after all you are kin to RachmaninOFF, not RachmaninON (-all-the-time)

Hmelnitsky has become a hero to me like no other. It is clear that while he was a genius, he is not a genius in the unapproachably brilliant European style. Nyiregyhazi? I know that if I was given a million years, I could NEVER play in that category. The same goes for Yudina and co.

@@RachManJohn Indeed, and it is a self-torture for me to listen to these absolute masters of the piano, as I both luxuriate in the delights they offer - and - wring my hands that I will never be able to play like them - as you say, even with a million years of time.

Looks like a solid ranking. Mostly agree with you, but Kissin and Arrau were underrated, Argerich was overrated. Kissin is at least Gillels level. Arrau is at least Brendel level. And Bang Bang are you kidding me? The fact that you say bang bang is getting better reveals the poor taste dude. 😂 How dare you put BangBang on the list to compare with these guys.

Have you heard Roberto Szidon's recording of Scriabin's 9th? I believe that it contains the fury of your chosen recording while also having superior recording quality (if that's something that is important to you, for me it is essential). The climax in his recording is unbelievable and has, for me, made all other recordings of it sound laughably quiet and time. I will admit, Bakk's recording is rather incredible, so thanks for opening my eyes to it.

  • @RachManJohn

Nyiregyhazi's performance of the Tarantella is really amazing. Most pianists treat this as a virtuoso show piece, emphasizing the two faster sections. Nyiregyhazi plays them in a more lyric, dancelike fashion, then let's fly with the most soaring erotic/passionate love poem in the middle. Just incredible.

"I've heard your Sibelius, you have not succeeded" SHOTS FIRED, lmfaooooooo Speaking of exposure/evolution, I feel like Brett and Eddie have been exposed to a lot of classical violin, but .... that's about it. They don't listen to /all/ eras of western classical for all instruments and combos (including those not including their chosen instruments) which.... is how they end up with so little exposure to the avant-gardes. "I don't relate to intellectual music" and yet, he enjoys Bach? Some of the most intellectual music ever written (particularly the art of fugue?) I just... ugh. They're likeable lads, but I hate that about them.
