Yes you can use but white colour and preferably off white (as in case of organic cotton) is suggested as it contains no artificial dyes so no risk of your skin absorbing any such harmful dyes.
Why too much lather?
The lather generated in this is a natural result of the saponification process. We haven't added anything to increase it.
