Amazing how similar they sound if you take away the gain/hottness differences. I listened back and forth and the tone character is not that different. but the breakup/gain is noticeably hotter in the PRS. Not buy a ton - almost like a subtle transparent overdrive was added. I had a PRS Silver Sky original (which I liked but did not love), but just purchased the PRS SE NF3 - looking forward to hearing it out of my Dr. Z amp.

Sorry if I have missed it, but I did not catch you mentioning the difference in scale length (25.5" on the Silver Sky, 25" on the NF3). Might not be a big issue for others, but since I prefer 11s on S-style guitars, the PRS scale length is definitely more comfortable. Great and detailed comparison. Sound-wise it is pretty much what I expected, I prefer the Silver Sky clean and the NF3 with some drive. Being an unhappy owner of a Fender Ultra Strat (not voluntarily, but I did absolutely need a noiseless Strat for some jobs), I will jump on the NF3 instantly - a better sounding guitar with a better neck at less than half the price, what's not to like.

Great note on the scale length difference. I missed that point on my overview. Definitely something that some players would find important. Thanks for catching that. -Sean

I know that guy! That's Sean from my local George's Music in North Wales , Pa. Sean and his staff know their stuff in and out. I've dealt with all of them and it has always been a wonderful experience. Nice comparison here Sean . You've given true points for each guitar so the listener can determine which one will suit their needs based on the highlights you've mentioned and shown here. You and your staff Rock, and you have the best guitar repairman around in Bruce Hames who has been my guitar fixer for 30 years.

I thought that too until I saw the Matt's Guitars video on it thru a PRS Sonzera amp. Check it out if you get a chance. It sounds better than what it does here probably because of the gain on the Sonzera

So, how far the tremola moves has nothing to do with the set up? If you pull on it and it barely moves you need to raise the bridge height.

Great tip! One trick I was taught is to tune the guitar, then one at a time hold fret each string on the 12th fret and pull the string away from the hole to add tension to the pegs. Then recheck your tune. I’m typically flat after this and tune up into tune. The tune holds much longer after I do this.

WARNING!!!! I just bought this guitar online. And I just received it yesterday. In my 46 yers on this earth I've never played a worst guitar in my life. I'm not even joking. A bet you could pick up a way better guitar from the pawn shop better then this piece of trash. I feel insulted that this was sent to me. When you guitar is perfectly in tune, it's way out at the 12 fret & up. Only 12 fret harmonics work. It must take a lot of work to make something so bad. This guitar isn't worth a hundred dollars, which makes this a crime

When I see entertainers obviously reading all the lyrics, I lose interest. It's ok to have them there as an aide-memoire, but how can you tell the story within the lyrics, if you're simply reciting them? This goes for both sheet music and phone/tablet displays. The most entertaining singers are those who get into character and make the songs believable, and you can't do that if you're reading the words like a karaoke contestant.

He explained in the video, but it's one octave up for each string but the two high strings, B and E. An octave is one full interval up in pitch progression. Normal tuning is E2, A2, D3, G3, B3, E4 and the new tuning would be E3, A3, D4, G4, B3, E4. Find a tuner that shows intervals, will be easier.
