  Heaven on earth, maybe-but the island is indisputably still run by the local mafioso, rife with corruption, and worse, zero accountability- because the Thai government does not want to scare off tourists. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere…Bali maybe. As for just being a good person and “all will be well,” makes sense. But when a tourist heard a dog yelping ( dog was apparently being beaten) the young man asked if the dog was ok. The perp then got his buddy and followed the young law student back to his guest house, holding a broken bottle. Beat the crap out of his friend. The 2 of them got the hell outta there. The world is full of parardises. Let’s not support the corrupt/ unevolved ones.

It's obvious from the looks of the area that it has an adult theme. I was just put off by the father knows best tone for the locals that you seemed to employ.   Just something about Thailand that always feels so nostalgic. Sure, there's pollution, prostitution, massively corrupt government etc. But nothing beats sitting on the balcony looking out to sea with a beer in hand, relaxing in your favorite hotel.

  Generally speaking Hua Hin is more cheaper across the board. Cheaper accommodation, transport, food costs. Just not as much party. More laid back.

  The sense of urgency is an American thing - you will find waitresses in Europe, Italy for instance, working in a very relax pace. 'Urgency' is actually considered 'rude' in many parts of the world! whereas in the US is the standard for good service. Having said that, customer service in the US is unsurpassable (best in the world) I like your informative approach - providing factoids and prices for everything. very Helpful! enjoy your travels :)
