It’s tough too, I don’t have to worry about it breaking. It’s weather proof too, Ive had it in rain and damp conditions without issue.

I have many D cell Maglites including this one. The second gen is much more heavy duty than this new model. I like the modes and the better beam pattern of this new version but this new model has plastic gears and thinner parts which are not what a Maglite should have. There isn't even any cheap aluminum flashlights I know of with plastic and gears. All manufacturers with adjustable spot-flood have aluminum threads and no gears for beam adjustments. Adding plastic parts that are not even needed is a step backwards in build quality. Still its a nice light, I just wont consider it heavy duty and 100% reliable like the second generation 2d and 3d. Got to love the run time on the 3d though! Amazing that just 1 more d cell than the 2d model can triple the run time in low mode! Same is true for the 2nd generation. 3D is a great power outage flashlight which you can flood a white ceiling and get decide room lighting.
@shananagans58 жыл бұрын
+Audioholic 01 It depends on the quality of the plastic & the quality of the aluminium. It kinda sounds like Maglite is trying to save a few $ though. I am a big Maglite fan & would be truly disappointed if that's the case. I am with you, a Maglite should be a heavy, solid light that just works, always.

I bought a Maglite ML300LX LED 3-Cell D Flashlight, Matte Black on June 30th 2015. It is the best Maglite I have ever bought. I have all versions of 3 and 4 D cell and even a modded 4 D-cell light.. The 3 D-cell model I bought before the ML300LX would kill the batteries just standing on the shelf not being used and it did not take long for that to happen. I should send it back to Maglite. I do not have the new MagLite ML300LX LED 2-Cell D Flashlight, mine is the generation before that one and it out performs every 2 -cell D flashlight I ever had. If you really like a big heavier flashlight that has all the light you need and a long run time, get the ML300LX. You will not be sorry that you did. Some people will say it is too big, but I carried a 4 D-cell Maglite every day for 20 years and I thought nothing of it. But I should point out that when I go for a walk at night, I take my Olight M3X Triton and a Olight M20 Warrior with me 99% of the time. I like the Olight M20 Warrior so much I own 5 of them, all with different LEDs.I do not recommend using flashlights that take the 18650 batteries unless you get a top quality charger and the best batteries you can get and be familiar with all the safety precautions one needs to take. The batteries can catch on fire and burn your home down. Never leave the batteries in the charger unattended.
