  Wow…sending Police who are on record for one of the slowest response times in our town’s history to arrest tax paying citizens who are trying to help the homeless . That must only make sense to a dictator. Sorry you can get the Roman legion to help you. Wow just wow! I’m wondering where that says in the constitution or the Bill of Rights that thou shall not feed the homeless. It took years upon years to move them out from freeway bridges. Maybe some fines are in order for slowness to take action?

  Libraries are much more than just books. One of the best things we do is to teach information literacy. We teach how to tell good resources from bad ones. We teach how to tell real facts from propaganda. How to do an in-depth, targeted internet search that will pull up a dozen really good resources, instead of 10,000 bad ones. We help university-bound kids do research on potential schools. We help the rest with information on how to write a resume or do an internet job search. We manage all of those electronic resources that people claim will replace libraries. We also see the kids that the rest of the school forgets since they tend to see the library as a sanctuary. There's a motto librarians use: "the right book, for the right kid, at the right time." You can really help a kid if you get that right.
