Oh perfect they used amp sims that "no one can tell are real or not" to ruin the production. Its so sterile. No push or power in the guitars. Linear. Boring. Even the drums are weak as hell. Sampled. Sounds like ez drummer 1. The only thing good is the fucking VOICE as always ! The songs are good though but damn why cheap out on production?

i remember the day i left (art) school early to pick this up on cassette at sound warehouse on May 5th, 1988. perfect, cloudless day in texas. around 80F. popped it into the kraco deck of my raggedy-ass, gen 3 camaro and drove around long enough to listen to it twice through. i thought 'the legacy' was a super-solid thrash release, along with heathen's 'breaking the silence' in 1987, but 'the new order' cemented skolnick as a top guitarist, and testament as a top artist of the genre. 'AJFA' wouldn't come out for a few more months and 'SF, SG ... So What!' wasn't quite as thrashy. this album hit at the exact right moment for me, and the vivid memory of release day is unforgettable.

I was skeptical because many remasters disappointed me...but this one...wow!!!...it further enhances the masterpiece that is this album, enjoying every second of everything...especially wall, offerings, haunted and waters !!

I am sorry, but if a NON-GUITAR player like me can appreciate the genius of Alex Skolnick then that says something. I tell my oldest son, a guitar player, about Alex and why I love his playing. I say to him yea Alex can shred like anyone else and go really fast, but the beauty of Alex's playing is the creation. It's the orchestration of notes. I've never heard guitar solos with such depth and intellect. It's literally like every note he plays has a purpose. It seems a million people can play really fast flight of the bubble bee shit with notes all over the measure. But WHAT NOTES to play is the key and Alex for me is the best I've ever heard. First time I heard him playing his wonderful stuff on The Legacy till today, he's the man. I'd love to meet him some day, shake his hand and say thank you for the great tunes he and his Testament bros gave us.

Ordered this from Rockway records store after reading about them and hearing some of it. i got it on cd it came in the long form box, the drummer from FF was working there and handed it to me way back. Saw them a bunch of times, at the troubador with violence and at the country club many times, also went to the show in ventura where Louie quit the band they canelled the show said they would make it up but never did and lost out. Wish i could afford this remaster on vinyl though.
