    I played Disco Elysium a long time ago. Could anyone remind me where the 'Precinct 41 Major Crime Unit' (23:31) appears in the game, please? I really enjoyed it but I barely had any memory about this song. Many thanks in advance.

    Maybe it's because I came in at night... maybe it's because I killed almost every person before I reached this area... but I didn't get the cut scene.

    There’s something deeply interesting about how the song that plays when you meet the phasmid is called “La Revacholiere.” Maybe the reveal of the insulindian phasmid is what revachol is about. An impossible miracle happening against all odds when you least expect it and completely changing the way you see the world.

    So I am a writer too, namely a poet, but I've also been learning to work in other genres and mediums, and already I feel a particular personal tie to this series, especially with Alan's emotional turmoil. In my final draft playthrough though I realized that my girlfriend looks alot like Baba Jakala/Barbara Jagger... She's paler with freckles and green eyes, but the face shape is nearly identical. Good thing my name isn't Tom, but still really weird.

    That first track's opening, good stuff. The trumpet sounds solitary and lonely. It calls out mournfully in search of a response from another. Like a ship lost at sea, sounding its horn in a foggy and moonless night, hoping to hear the horn of another nearby vessel - another of its kind. This ship however, has been adrift for years. Cast off and forgotten to the currents of the indifferent and expansive ocean. Its paint has slowly cracked and flaked off - replaced over time by a patina of orange rust and salt and grit. With no plotted course, and no power to move itself, the stranded ship is nowadays more akin to an island of metal: rough, coarse, and unwelcoming. It stands now as a fortress - and a prison - for its thinning crew. A place whose only visitors are the occasional flock of seagulls, who preen their feathers at the aimless bow before setting off once more. Where were they heading? Towards a landmass beyond the horizon? Or further out to sea to meet their end? The ship envied the gulls for that luxury they held. All it could do was sound its horn to tell the world that it still exists. It will continue to sound its mournful cry until the day someone acknowledges its distress, or the day it falls silent forevermore.

    "Detective arriving on the scene" is you waking up, you wait some time as the tiredness goes away, you take a walk outside and get emotional by the smallest piece of joy you can find in your day, you smile and take a breath, you say "it's worth it".

    Ok, this scene would make Orpheus's offer to have her be his rider more gut wrentching. In my first playthrough, Karlach became a mindflayer and I didn't use Lae'zel so when he said "be my rider" I was like "yeah go on Lass, you've got nothing going on here." Well woops

    I love how the choices work in this game. Inland Empire is screaming the truth at you, and you can still choose the dialogues that act as if its not real. The psychology in this game is so real

    So Ahti was a butler before. Makes sense. Janitor in German is "Hausmeister" house master. He used to work for some farmland owner who "disappeared" into the "night". It represents the times as well as mankind and society shifts farther away from monarchic/authoritarian structures to more democractic systems. The "butler" serves a lord whereas the janitor serves a "house". The power shifted from the leader to the corporation. Ahti now serves the oldest house rather than the master and the director is simply the janitor's assistant. No one is above "the law", "the house".

    This game dug into me. When I played my first play through I was a jaded disillusioned detective that was sick and tired of the system. Luckily not an alcoholic, but this game spoke to me very deeply and made me realize I was done with law enforcement. It had ripped my humanity from me, made me mentally ill, made me depressed and sick all the time. This game was a microcosm of my entire career. Over a decade of death and seeing people being ground up in the machine changed me for good, but this game gave me hope.

    When i hear the unused tracks, i thnk about how good would be this game if the developers had more time/money. It feels like the game is not 100% finished. But however, this game is one of my all-time-favourite games and shaped me, respectively caused an vampire/gothic-phase in my teenie-years.. =D

    No, it is the major beats and some smaller instances of the necktie talking, but there are parts I missed. For instance, this fun conversation about another necktie: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aH6Gw5WlZtGYXbQ.html

  • @tomaO2
    @tomaO22 ай бұрын

    @@fearprophetsadso7843 I see. I actually remember that bit, now that I think of it. Odd that the Inland thought didn't trigger when I got the bowtie during my current playthrough. I'm actually doing a walkthrough for the first 3 days. Most people stop once you get Wompty, but I want to continue until all skills are raised to 4, which gives the biggest increase in dialogues for all skills. It's a difficult decision as to what to do with the necktie. I ended up including it in the walkthrough, since it's unique content and some people seem to really like that tie. That said, the amount of content the necktie gives seems to be very small. Seems like maybe 20 dialogues? The most major ones being with Gart, the bit about getting the alcohol, and when it becomes beautiful.
