No BS, just what I was looking for
They are noisy - hate it!!!
Z23 good for lexus or track?
Thanks much appreciated, you answered my question quick and to the point
Awesome video! No bullcrap, just what was needed.
Do not buy Power Stop! They will not stand behind their products. Both of my front calipers locked up within 4 months of each other after only being on the vehicle for less than 2 years and less than 6,000 miles.
I would not recommend buying Power Stop. They do not stand behind their products. Both of my front calipers locked up in less than 2 years with less than 6,000 miles on them (I have state inspections to prove mileage) and they will not consider replacing them. Luckily I still had my oem calipers from 2015 that work just fine until I can find a company that will stand behind a quality product.
I would not recommend buying Power Stop products. Both front calipers locked up in just under 2 years and when I contacted their customer service department all I got was “sorry they are out of warranty”. If my product failed in that short of time, I would want it back for research purposes unless I already knew I was selling a subpar product.
This is bad advice.
Or just buy plane face rotors . Drilled is nothing but looks
I don't know about that. I noticed huge difference in braking distance when I got slotted ones. Only thing is the pads goes out faster. I'll trade that for safe stopping though.
@monkeyking-self-proclaimed7050 I said drilled . Slotted only gives a benefit in the fact that it wipes away a layer of pad all the time so you get a fresh layer for braking . That's why your pad life is worse than half of normal I bet . 95% of people would never notice w difference between an ok pad and slotted and good pads on a solid face quality rotor
Too bad you don’t carry rotors for my car, but you do carry like four varieties of pads. 🤨
Have them on 2 of my vehicles. Not using anything else. 2003 GMC Sierra 4x4 2016 Toyota 4Runner
Show this to every shop that owns a lathe…
I was always told that s/d rotors is to dispurse water from making your pads hydroplane GI ING you better breaking in rain.
Correct
Hell yeah
Lmao this video creates more questions than answers
I just noticed my friend put his rotors on backwards. He said the instructions didn't mention the fact that they were directional. You guys gotta make sure these instructions are included in the PDF instructions for all of the kits you sell via Summit. Not everyone instinctively knows they are directional, and not everyone will check youtube to see if they're directional. Some people read the instructions and if they don't specifically mention these cross-drilled and slotted rotors are directional there is a 50/50 chance they're going to put them on backwards.
Mine are labeled but the slots and holes go the opposite direction.
Baer go the other way.
Do you need to install abutment clips? I left mine off because they were too tight. Now I'm dealing with sticking pads... Is that a culprit?
Is there a vid for parking brake shoes?
Baer rotors go in reverse of what was said here, make sure to consult your instructions for proper orientation.
Just installed a Powerstop pads/rotors kit on the front of my '16 F-150. No bedding instructions were included, but I'm not unfamiliar. Noticed right out of the box a somewhat gritty silver coating on the entirety of the rotors. Man... These things groaned and shuddered like crazy at low speed. I started with some very easy, long, low speed decelerations to near but not complete stops. Things began to smooth out somewhat. From there went onto a highway with lights and speed limits varying between 55 & 65 MPH. Again: Long gradual stops at each red light. Finally; a couple of firm, quicker decelerations to full stops, and things got much smoother after a total of about 50 miles. I'll continue with longer easier stops for about another 50 miles, and then see how these do on some of the very long and steep high passes we have here in Colorado. (after the rears are finished)
Thank yiu
And not turning on the car and stepping on the brakes after you install them
LIQUI MOLY Synthetic Lubricant for Brake Pins 5 g (21119) Is this product suitable for brake calipers? I would be happy to help
That's all I needed to know. Thanks!😀
Just a question. Other videos say the caliper mount torque value is 81.1 ftlb but your video suggests 48-59 ftlbs.
There's so much conflicting info on this brake paste i miss the days when nobody ever used paste ( this was before my time but my dad always mentions it lol). I'm having a stickign issue with some pads and I thin it may be because of the lubricant I am using.. this purple cermaic brake paste which almost seems like glue was applied to the back of my pads. Should I just put these things in dry? With only slight amount on the ears? Is it even necessary to lube the piston like i see in so many vids?
Backwards to pull air in and cool
My name is Alexander Delgado. I am studying the automotive industry. I am currently living in California, and I am currently a student at Santa Ana College.
So I’m actually looking at getting a brake set from you guys. But I do tow a heavy trailer and I have also heard of problems with drilled rotors.
How is this an upgrade? Because it says “extreme” on the box?
Drilled and slotted rotors plus carbon ceramic pads which equals low dust. I think that’s plenty of an upgrade
How's the initial bite on these? The OEM pads didn't have much bite.
to the point no BS. thanks
I purchased the Z36 pads with drilled and slotted rotors for the front. I lubricated everything as mentioned in the video and my Z36 carbon ceramic pads squeak horrible. I broke them in as per the instructions on the box and it is really embarrassing to have squealing/squeaking brakes on a newer Sierra Denali. I'm going to trash the Powerstop's and switch back to OEM ACDelco.
It is normal for carbon ceramic pads to squeak. I believe it’s something to do with the material used to make the pads
You don’t need to bleed the brakes when doing pads and rotors.
I just want the front pads but does one box come with enough for both sides or do I need two boxes
Hi! Our pad boxes include brake pads for both driver and passenger side, per axle
Do the kits have enough for both side or do I have to buy two boxes
I think two
Really like PowerStop pads. I like Z23's for my Corvette because I never track my car. A tech-rep said the Z23 would have the least chance of squealing.
Grease for slide pins sillicon Grease for brake piston gasket is it special it is used only for this!!! Brake pads metal to metal ceramic Brake pads with rost frej washers on brake calipers housing no grease!!! Grease for brake caliper piston where push brake pade back side ceramic Vw says lithium for slide pins and piston....
Wife's new brakes were squeaking after I had put them on a few weeks ago. Tried this. Works perfectly with no noise at all. Wife happy.
Why do my z23 brakes sound like a playing card in a bicycle spoke?
Bro, me too. I’ve been chasing the sound and can’t find anything. Slow spin nothing, but then up to speed it clicks like crazy. Have you found anything yet?
@@MajinBrander my guess is the ends of the pads aren't quite the right size. So they're just bounching around in the bracket. Honestly I haven't gone back in yet to see what's really going on. Just too busy on other people's cars.
@@vermontvermont9292 I may try to switch back to oem sized pads. Only my rear wheels are doing it, my front are perfectly silent. Please let me know if you find something out, I’ll do the same.
@@MajinBrander will do. What car do you have btw?
@@vermontvermont9292 Nissan S14. You?
I did this on my 2500 Ram and boy thoses brakes stink when they are seating in and heat cycling. After that, drive around and let them cool down because they get HOT!! Love the way it stops my reuck while im hauling a heavy trailer. Well worth the money.
I just installed my backward. Is it ok to drive it a few hundred miles till I can swap it around?
Does your sound like the scrap if so i think i installed mine wrong too haha
@@williamoliveros76Mine makes a lot of noise Like bugs
@@bike4life153you found the problem ? I installed mines maybe a month ago on my 19 Honda pilot and sounds like bugs also or a clock😐 took everything off and check found nothing
@@BMR1009 its normal, absolutely normal
@@BMR1009 you can Google it, its common
Good stuff, thanks for the informative video
I decided to dip my toes into HPDE this year and selected the Track Day to run with OEM blank rotors on my C5 Z06. I also added braided lines and Motul 660. I was seriously impressed with the performance. They are a little dusty, but there was no fade, even with two heavy braking zones at VIR. I'll be upgrading to Powerstop on my Tundra tow vehicle too.
Just got mine today for my 2010 Chevy Impala. I'll install them tomorrow morning. Thanks in advance for this video, I'll be back to note how they turned out.
You must have not stopped.. lol
