O, cho iongantach a bhith na chuspair de ghràdh nighean Albannach
Hauntingly beautiful - thank you so much Julie
The animation is so evocative. Even though I can't understand the words, the imagery translates beautifully. Kudos to Ms. Fowlis and the animator.
Holy Moly. Even if you think you don't know what it means, your heart knows.
Real Recognise Real.
Julie is a national treasure, and I truly hope she knows how special she is 💖 gaelic is such an important part of scottish heritage and culture, we must never let the language die.
A Great Song as always.BTW that is Some Dog ❤
Currently learning my family tongue of Scottish Gaelic AND tomorrow I am working as a supply teacher in a French Immersion School! I will play them this and inspire them with the story!
If your heart and emotions are not ripped open by this sublimely beautiful little song you are not human. Love you Julie. You have the voice of an angel.
I have no idea what she is saying, but it's beautiful. ❤
I feel a little awkward, asking this question simply because when the comments here very personal, and this is a very impersonal one. But if anyone here knows Irish, could you explain the title? The word I learned for sister was “deirfiúr”
Tha òran seo boidheachd!! This song is beautiful!
Oh my God the comments 😢 I’m in tears ❤
Cain and Abel. The burden of the first born, the creativity of the second born. The tiller of the fields, the shephard. The double face of Janus, looking up to the parents, looking down at the other siblings. Under the auspices of the first born the second born can take flight. A third can rebel. Through the long years we have lived our love has deepened. This song is a treasure.
Halò Julie, Tha mi à Canada. Tha beagan Gàidhlig agam, dulich Tha mi ag ionnsachadh air duo lingo. Tha gaol agam air do sheinn. Bidh thusa agus an luchd-ciùil a’ deanamh ceòl brèagha. Tha mi an dòchas ur faicinn ann an Alba latha air choireigin a dh’ aithghearr. Moran taing. I did cheat and use some google translate but I am at the beginning learning Gàidhlig. I am à professionally trained musician, mostly jazz, and I see you are very talented along with your fellow musicians that blend beautifully. Please don’t stop. This is a gift for so many of us, drawing us into such a wonderful Scottish art and culture. Bless you.
Julie’s comment in an interview for this album, where she talked about music and language being connected to the land of a people really deeply struck me. It made me realize the loss of self-understanding and heritage that unguided modernism and “change” brings to the world. Some of the most meaningful and beautiful music is that I’d ethnic sounds which has had centuries of history and stories as is foundation.
Exquisite Julie! 💙🏴🎼🎶🎶
Wonderfull!! is she playing a Cuatro?
Magical music sung by a magical singer.
I'm 78% Scottish but live in N. ireland, and i love Julie Fowles,
4 minutes with goosebumbs on my skin and peace in my soul.
Ceci est juste hallucinant
Hauntingly beautiful and melodically accurate. Very very special.
I love you beautiful star
I see all the love for Scottish Gaelic hear and its not hard to understand the love. I remember listening to my Uncle Fergus speak English in his heavy Gaelic accent, and I could hardly understand. My Aunt Annie would translate his English for me, but I loved them both and have tried to learn some language over the years. To Julie and others keeping this alive...tapadh leibh!
What an absolutely bloody gorgeous video (and song, of course.) I've been watching KZread for many a long year and have never seen a better one. As for Julie Fowlis, I've been listening to her for many a long year, too, and she never fails to enthrall.
Es maravillosa ❤
Beautiful…
Got to see her perform this song live in Franklin Tennessee in 2023. What a privilege. She is absolutely wonderful.
Thank you, I love St. Columba!

Good God this song like from other world...
Julie is a patch on the soul. She gives us strength to face the world❤
I need translation😢😢
I remember her performing this, bare feet. Purple lighting, a long dress and singing underneath a tent with heavy rainfall... And she was only 3meters in front of me. It was magical❤❤❤
Mòran taing às an Ruis!
Its been many years since I heard a song and it moved me from the first time I heard it...thank you!
I played this song for my dog the night before she passed away. I miss her so much and this song makes me cry.

Tops as usual J Dawg. ty
I listen to this daily because as a scot it calls to my heart. So much lost, thank you Julie for keeping our true culture alive.
Beautiful and impossibly sad. It was not so long ago that mothers routinely died in childbirth and children routinely lost siblings to abduction, disease, or wild animals.
