The idea of not disturbing a plant in moss and letting it develop roots into pon is a great one! I have some questions: once the plant has developed a good root system into pon, what do you do with the moss part? Do you stick with the moss as you move it into a normal self-watering pot? Do you remove it? Cover it with pon? Appreciate any guidance! 😊🙏

The video is 10 months old and I can already see how big of a price diffrence so many of this are, here in Poland you can already buy docblock Anthys for 150usd and less and Kunayalense also for 150usd (compered to 2250 from the video). Waiting a year just lets you save up so so much money and that's why I always wait untill this expensive anthuriums hit 100usd threshold before buying. Well executed video tho!

The amount of money that has been tipped into the bin by “plant collectors” who are new to growing plants, is staggering. If you can’t spot viral issues vs variegation…or, are unsure about potting medium, growing needs and other basic gardening techniques, you should start with hardier and cheaper options until you get more experience. The Monstera albo debacle is just one example of this and there were plenty of predatory sellers who fed this ongoing heartbreak.

The “Covid spawned plant community” is a very strange crowd. As an avid gardener, who has been growing Hoya and aroids for decades, I have been having a hard time understanding the “new crowd.” To jump from one plant to another, fueled by Instagram posts, is akin to the designer purse craze. One year, everyone wants Coach bags and the next month it’s Michael Kors. If you coveted a certain plant, and then you “cancel” this plant as soon it becomes more widely available and is less sought after…then I’d say, you never liked this plant in the first place. It’s all about a plant’s status within this new crowd of “plant collectors” and not the plant itself. And don’t get me started on these new “naming conventions” that are solely based on commerciality and not on botanical nomenclature. No….there is no P. erubescens ‘Pink Princess’ Galaxy or Marble, botanically, they are all P. erubescens cultivar ‘Pink Princess.’ Some of these names are blatantly made up and have no connection to botanical reality. Just another hint that plant collectors aren’t about the joy of growing. Rant over

Thank you for the info, these are very informative! I just stumbled upon this video a year late! I find that starting a plant hobby in the US is really expensive.. even for the more common house plants like pothos. Say for something like a manjula or global green we get a lush mature one for around 4-6 dollars, and the giant ones for around 14-16 usd and that’s already expensive here but I heard from my friend in Wisconsin that’s already a bargain. I know tropical plants are way cheaper in southeast asia even the rare ones because it’s endemic here even the one from Florida.. but the mark up in the US plus the changing seasons would really cost a simple hobbyist a fortune in my own opinion :’(
