  Just found your channel and love your art! Question? Neo color pastels don’t smear a lot? I notice no sleeves between your pages.

  They do smear but when I’m drawing I pop pages in between the last 2 or so pages and that helps when I’m drawing. And then after sometimes I fix them with a spray, but mostly I just leave them. I’m not too precious with my sketchbooks!

  are royal talens sketchbook really vegan? its just that i found one website that mentions its non vegan but do not specify what they use for it

  At the time of the video I had found this paragraph on the royal talens website “All of the glues in the Royal Talens range have a synthetic base and are therefore vegan, except for Rembrandt 100% cotton watercolour paper.” Although it doesn’t specifically mention the sketchbooks. Since making the video I have been told that Jackson’s website labels them as non vegan. But Jackson’s sometimes gets it wrong too. They label all the Holbein gouache as non-vegan but I’ve emailed the company and only a few pigments have animal products. So maybe the sketchbooks use animal glue, but I haven’t found anything definitive. At the need of the day I’m just trying to do my best and I make mistakes sometimes. But now I prefer pith sketchbooks so I’m moving to those anyway :)

  @@monkeymintaka Ohh thank you so much for replying! its so hard to find an affordable vegan sketchbook here, so if you have any more recommendations please do tell me! though im not vegan, im a muslim so i felt guilty using art supplies that contains any animal ingredients😩

  @@monkeymintaka Thanks! oh also i asked Royal Talens directly on insta if they used any gelatin on the process of paper/sizing (cause of what i’m aware of, some brands do that) and they said they use none in the sketchbook!

  What an interesting question! I would say if I have been inspired by fauvism it would be very subconsciously as I had to look the term up 😂 But after learning about it and seeing some of the artists I can see it’s the kind of work I would be drawn to in an art gallery so I guess I am! I just didn’t know it :) I’ve always loved Henri Matisse and I see he is one of the big artists from that era. Thanks for asking, I love learning things like that. I didn’t study art outside of high school so I’m not too familiar with all the terms and movements.

Do you record your painting process?? I would love to see it, and also hear your thoughts as you make each decision in a painting.

  Wonderful sketches! Nice fun fact of the Witcher Series 😁😁 I guess my favourite page is the lakeside which says „derwent“ on the buttom right. But there are soooo many great sketches with great color palettes! Love your style so so so much!!! ❤❤

  Thanks for your lovely comment! That lake was Derwent Water. It’s a really beautiful lake up near Keswick and the area is home to Derwent pencils which is pretty cool :)

  I am sorry if I am repeating myself with something I’ve said before. I don’t know how many times I have said some sort of variation of this - I’ve definitely thought it many times when you flip through your sketchbooks. Maybe I’ve not actually said it in a comment? Anyway… your color choices are so interesting and just so much fun. Your artwork is beautiful and lively…it’s almost like candy for the eyes. That’s the best way I know to say it. Thank you as always for sharing videos and talking us through your sketchbook! You asked us for favorites…impossible to choose, as my “favorite” is most of them! (Interestingly, I really liked the one with dark lines that you said you didn’t like. It is definitely different from everything else, but I thought it was lovely in its own way.)

  I would love to hear what supplies you used in your Plein Air sketches if you remember. It kinda looks like tambi watercolor or brush pens + color pencil? Or maybe some kind of pastel. I would LOVE to see your supply kit for walking and sketching and how you decide what to take and how to transport it effectively

  The video just before this one was all about picking materials for plein air sketching so maybe you will like that one :) it varies but normally a paint, a pencil and a crayon of some kind.

  I love your sketchbook tour! So fun and full of experiments. I feel like I’ve seen some of these in your vlogs etc. The part about the Witcher-my favourite! 🤩😂 lol I love drawing on the plane and it’s finally what made me not hate planes 😅 The textures in the latest part of the sketchbook are beautiful 😍 Did I spy a fudenosuke brush pen on the swatch page 👀 one of my all time fave pens

  I took a plenty of sketching materials in my backpack last vacation. And I got tired of carrying it on my back after a few days and left it in my hotel room 😂. I will see what happens next time…

  Hi April, i have not seen other artists do this: go back and paint/draw over the swatch and test pages. I love this idea because you already have a cool underpainting, AND a better finished sketchbook. Love it❤
