I wish I had a video of the squall we rowed into back in college... 3-4ft white caps on Lake Union in Seattle, our cox screaming, "Row for your lives!"... We ended up swamped off gas works park... shoes floating everywhere. Then we all nearly flipped over the coaches launch, it was November and the water wasn't warm.

Bro I FEEL the crew whose boat was filling with water. That’s happened to my crew before, and we had to have half the crew rowing, the other half shoveling out water with water bottles 🤣

Happened to me and I will never be able to let it go. I remember paying like $400 for lost gear (unrelated) then like maybe 3rd or 4th time out, in college row (were in a coastal bay) it was higher tide and there was a boey or idk what the heck you call it subersible baloon thingy? Clipped it, went ass over tits, completly decked the girl behind me with my foot, gave her nose a right introduction to boxing, nearly went full wipeout, and seriously damaged the oar. But wait thats not all. I also destroyed the oarlock. The coach was super cool, knew I was poor af and said they would cover it, but I had way to much dignity. They wouldn't "let me pay for it", but they let me pay for it in humilation and shame, I still donated the necessary damage, and helped buy a boat after I graduated. But still. I kind of wish they let me pay for it rather than be known as Hulk (we had green leotards for the school we were at) But at least people thought I was strong like. I can't even put into words how sorry I am to the girl either, like that wasn't part of the 'job description' getting a bad nose, she was super pretty and confident too, and after she really hurt it with her self image, despite this like badness, we grew to be really close, and I still talk to her years later, Even though 'we're cool' it happends everytime I think about it it makes me almost vomit because It angers and disgusts me that I couldn't do better even though "there was nothing I could do" Idk. sorry, just really needed to get this out. 😞

LOL this reminds me of when I was doing technical theater and I droped a super f' expensive light. Very grateful they didn't make me buy/replace that either, fmd. lol. almost more than the boat. At least if gave them an excuse to upgrade to an LED light and not those shyte ass PAR's. If you know you know 😉

I had a regatta the other day and during the quad race the boat from one team was pushing the boat from our team into the shore and they ran into a dock at full force. The boat and everyone was okay but the riger(however that’s spelled) was badly damaged. Then during an eight race that I was in someone almost flew off cause they caught a crab at full force. Then I was in a double race and we caught two crabs during the race. Loosing a lot of time but still getting 2nd out of 6th.

Surely there’s something wrong if your boat is filling up with water? Like you’re gonna go a lot slower if you’ve even got an inch or two of water in the bottom, why does this even happen

Cool sport. I guess some rower is too cratzy to win the race and out of control. Luxus problem until they fix it, otherwise they would stop rowing. Remember; making mistakes is the nature of normal learning / training day.

@@ZelotHD Caught a crab and it pinched :P Probably harsh uv and and windy on the lips made it cracky during a long sesh, and it eventually ripped when somone told a dead ass hilarious joke after practice? lol this happend to me. I haven't found a product to help my lips with rowing, they get so god damn dry, its like i have cotton mouth. It infuritate me to no end because my hands are like a god damn waterfall with sweat doing nothing, but my lips like nah you can be niagra, and I'll be the sahara, Cool? Sunscreen helped a little bit but it tasted horrible and my lips were still dry as dry as an nuns ass.
