Can only imagine what it was like when all four engines were screaming at full noise to her up to 30 knots. I wonder if they've ever changed that lagging, the original lagging was full of asbestos!

Hi Malcolm, thanks for contacting LMBC, you are right about the boot topping ,looks awful, some of our members just sail for fun and others are more discerning, same as most clubs I have visited. as long as we enjoy what we are doing

!960 warship that is strange she was built in the 1940s.

She had a major refit in 1957 including her boilers , this type of layout ran through until the seventies , served on Ark Royal 69 - 72 similar layout and machinery, Manxman the same . it is worth a visit to HMS Belfast, all machinery spaces accessible, fill update on her refit
