Hi! I Considering doing the same. Do you keep it outside? You point it out of the window? How do you operate with this antenna? My idea is to mount this antenna on a tripod, and make it in some way that is possible to bend it out of the window , and when I finish operating, just move it inside the room.

Hello, The antenna is indoors -- close to a window -- mounted to a music stand tripod using a mirror mount. Using a bedroom on 2nd level of home.....

That is one of the reasons I'd never chose to live in a HOA controlled area, due to the abuse and large fraud scams. I'm a big time Ham and GMRS operator owning many repeaters and some commercial DMR capacity plus services. HOA really ruin the nice suburban areas and too many Karens out there to report you on B.S. Nearby my home area there were two HOA Managers indited in Federal charges and sent to Federal Prison due to Fraud against the members, also trying to run many members out due to their color of their home and the trees not being cut like they want it to be, many little things like that. It was nice to see the HOA being sued and ran out of exitance.

hang a 1/4 wave long 0,5mm copperwire outside on a tree, that will work ALOT better than a small antenna in the room. 📶 a wire that thin will be barely visible and not noticed as an antenna by the hoa, or maybe a 0,3mm copperwire can be used, that is even less visible. by the way, i find that not right how much the hoa comes against radioamateurs, there should be a class lawsuit to once for all stop the hoa from messing with radioamateurs.

Nice video and neat setup for your situation. Have you thought about a wire antenna with your tuner? You could hang a wire around the perimeter of your room with the Command Strips. Also you could hang your hamstick antenna that you showed horizontal from your Command Strips. 73 de K9KXW

Hello, I use my 17M Hamsticks horizontally but the 40M meter Hamsticks are longer and more heavy - so I didn't want to take a chance that they could fall down...

Tom is correct! If you look closely, the hamstick pointing upwards with the coax connected to it has an insulator, whereas the hamstick pointing downwards is connected directly to the mounting bracket, providing the "other half" of the dipole. In this configuration, the ground lug on the bracket is not used. So he does have this set up properly, although it is probably not ideal for transmitting. Nice job, keep experimenting sir!

The G5RV Jr. will also work well on 6 meters. It is 5/2-waves long. I got my VUCC on 6 with one erected as a sloper between 2009 and 2014... De WB2VUO here near Buffalo, NY

i’m glad it’s working for you but my question is why did you buy a home with restrictions in the first place? i have seen people i’m bad places like that and what they do is stick a mag mount on their vehicle when they are home and run a piece of coax into the house. the vehicle provided a good ground and it gets the antenna outside at least. they can not stop you from having an antenna on your vehicle

Hello, I just connect the mirror mount to the stand.... there is a white nylon washer at the base of the mirror mount stud...that the antenna screws into.

Thanks for your antenna videos. I've got limited space and I'm planning on giving the SPX-100 antenna a try indoors. (It's somewhat similar to your HVT-400). I've also got a magnetic loop antenna on order, again for indoor use. However something else that you might like to try yourself is a half-wave dipole, nominally for 20 metres. My own version has the two elements stretching along the front wall of my bedroom, back along the side walls and then, to fit in the required length, vertically downwards at the ends. (I started out by adding a bit of extra length to the elements and then trimmed them back to get somewhere close to resonance). They're fed via a 1:1 balun, with a line isolator at the transceiver end of the coax. (I've just used gaffer tape to fix the antenna wire to my walls but Command hooks would provide a neater solution). I'm only running 20 watts, from a Xiegu G90, but I've worked stations in the Middle East (such as Oman, over 3500 miles away from me, on 20 metres) and Brazil (5000 miles from me, on 17 metres) from my QTH here in the UK. I can even get out quite well on 40 metres with it too. I hope to meet you on air one day. 73s, Chris, M0JZD.
