This expansion/spinoff is one of the few things I did not buy yet, what do you think about it currently? Worth it or leave it?
@RichardLearnsGames2 күн бұрын
That's hard. Mists is supposed to be the cooperative version of Carcassonne, but I've only ever played it as an expansion, so I can't speak to how worth it it may or may not be (so far, anyway). As an expansion, it's enormous. I can only say I like it. The graveyards is what pushes it so high for me. Getting another Meeple during gameplay is something I enjoy so much. The mists are pretty good. They usually break up fields a bunch, so if you're all about getting that big field, it takes work to even get a big one. The castles are meh. Get points for how much mist is surrounding it. And I don't have a big reaction to ghosts.
@mrhypenightКүн бұрын
@@RichardLearnsGames so of course I had to buy this one…just got it in same day and have the rules here with me (German version) I remember one situation where you were uncertain if you should put a ghost on yourself or the opponent first when you expand+limit at the same time. @@RichardLearnsGamesI’ve enjoyed the tutorial videos so far to help me learn the various expansions. Interesting opinion on the tower expansion, it sucks to have dead zones on the board... So if you play that expansion with the Princess and the dragon, the dead zones might not be a problem, right? Because you have the portals to go anywhere....

You can close a tower by placing your own Meeple on it, removing the ability of that tower to be used to capture. But the Meeple on the tower can still be captured. Using the portal to get in there isn't a bad idea though, especially if you're just finishing up something and there isn't another tower nearby that's going to capture you.

I have most of the expansions and would say the most enjoyable process when we used to play it was creating and fighting in huge city and the major funny threat to winning player - if you allow it - to burn barn with the dragon :)) Therefore best expansions for me are the ones which are involved in this: 5. *Count, King* & Robber - count's castle is my fav starting way 4. Inns & *Cathedrals* - don't have that one, mechanics looked too simple but I can see how badly inns are needed 3. Princess & *Dragon* - dragon gives the extra drama and joy of destruction 2. *Traders* & *Builders* - cities are happier with it, grow quickly and are colorful and piggy is actually great if you bring it to the barn over and over again, new way of gathering points with bad cards 1. *Abbey* & *Mayor* & *Barn* - was my first expansion, changes game's character the most, especially makes running out of meeples less of a problem

In the Buffy iteration, the player steps are: play a card from the Villain Deck; play cards from your hand; finally, discard your hand and draw 6 more cards. It's drawing those 6 cards that reminds me to deal a new Villain card. To remind myself which hand I'm playing (greatly diminished memory due to advancing years) I put a token on top of the deck that will be playing next, as soon as that happens I transfer the token to the deck just played.

Scoring those 1st acrobats wasnt the play cos you got rid of 3 meeples next to the cricus
Yep! That definitely would have been the better play for red!
@@RichardLearnsGamesI recently ordered Under Under the Big Top and Princess and the Dragon. I figured them together would cause a fun risky chaos as near circus you have lots of meeples=lots of food for the dragon :D
That's awesome. A whole pyramid could be taken out! Have fun!
I got the Carcassonne big box sometime ago, and it has inns and cathedrals, and builders (plus like 9 more mini expansions). I also got the tower and the dragon. I feel like if I had done a bit more research, I would have gotten the mayor instead. But the tower is still fun in 2 player games. The dragon, tho, I haven't been able to test yet because I pre-ordered it, and hasn't still arrived.
Quite controversial expansion. I wouldn't buy it
