for some reason that number about "the good ol' E A R & H"... the bridge where he sings "yes I can yes I can can can" weirdly reminded me of Obama's campaign slogan of "Yes we can"

Typical Chet Atkins, a fine sense of humour, and fine picking of course.

Norske Intervjue. First question: "How does the Nashville Sound compare with Norweigian mountain song? " I'm already laughing hard. Then Chet tells the one about he has a "good fiddle" -- " a Stradivarius, and I bought it new!" LOLOLOL. Intervjuer still not quite catching on, Chet says "...that's a joak. J-O-A-K , joak. " [ and here's chet making fun of himself, because his jokes are delivered so dry that he needs to spell them out] 💚💙💜 The thing that I find truly amazing, that Chet at 4:30 saying he doesnt have many people over to his recording studio/basement because it's become an exclusive neighbordood and he's worried the neighbors would complain, forcing him to take his studio downtown. 😲 Wha???? The one person who almost singlehandedly created 75% of Nashville's economy...afraid they would push him out of his own home for playing music. MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS!!

i’ve been playing guitar since I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan back in 1964. I’ve been in lots of bands, hardly a day goes by that I don’t pick up a guitar. but after seeing this video by accident, I realize I don’t have a clue..

I saw Chet, Floyd and Boots in Ft. Lauderdale on their Masters Festival of Music tour way back when. Jerry Reed was an added attraction. The only song I remember for sure was Peanut Vendor. After the show and as people were filing out something came over me and I snuck backstage and met the guys as they were leaving the dressing room and got autographs. Still got 'em.

A "little" 22,000 square foot house? Let's hope he meant a 2200 square foot house. I doubt that his wife was cleaning a 22,000 square foot home by herself.

Chet, if he had a fault, it was because he was too humble and too self-deprecating! Fact is, he was the greatest and most influential guitarist of his time, who mastered multiple genres of music. And 22 years after his death, he still has young, upstart guitarists whose ears perk up when they hear what he did 70 years ago, and try to keep that sound and fingerstyle method of guitar playing alive and well. And oh, BTW, he was also one of the greatest record producers and recording executives to ever live, establishing the "Nashville Sound," which revitalized and helped keep country music competitive during a time when it was in a funk in terms of global record sales.

Chet always chided TE for showing off and TE never got the message. Everyone there is laying back so as not to outshine Chet as he is dying from brain cancer. TE can’t resist. Not even here.

What a wonderful man. What a kind, gentle, talented man. When he played it sounded like the guitar was playing itself. He never played a note that didn’t ring.

I OFTEN WONDER IF HE EVER RECORDED SONGS AND SINGING ALONG. MY SON SAYS HE CANT ENTERTAIN JUST PLAYING GUITAR WITHOUT SINGING. HE HAS A GOD GIVEN TALENT AND AN ACCOMPLISHED GUITARIST. HE PLAYS ALONG WITH ME ON THE ACCORDION FOR ALL MY SHOWS FOR THE PAST 30 YEARS. NEVER READ A NOTE. HE. KNOWS MORE THAN I DO. HE CORRECTS ME WHEN I MISS A CHORD OR PLAY THE WRONG ONE. BEEN PLAYING ACCORDION SINCE I WAS 12 YEARS OLD. AT THIS WRITING I AM 82.
