If you are familiar with what a true Norton Commando sounds like with dual carbs it should be obvious that this bike sounds absolutely terrible with that single carb. Cough, gasp, sputter. It's a shame to compromise the torque and acceleration by putting on that carb.

Beautiful motorcycle. That one must have exhaust problems as these bikes were super quiet and super smooth riding when original.

It seems you also have another problem. It's called a Commando without the acceleration, the torque and the grunt that the dual carbs give you. Hope you get the bad idling sorted from the single.

Wats the oil from ?

The motor was "wet sumping" I had to re-do seats in the oil pump to prevent the oil draining into the crank case.
