    @marekzamora in a way, it is. You must slightly lift the handle and the back end. Then the rubber paddles will pull the machine forward. It is dependent on how much you lift the handle.

    @canamdennis6829 thank you very much! It's an amazingly good car! I bought my car right off of the showroom floor with 9.1 kms on the odometer, for around $75K Canadian dollars back in December of 2021. That was the sticker price, no dealership mark up. Plus the obligatory 13% tax. That was a good chunk of cash, but well worth it. 👍👍

    Thanks for this review right now I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a 09 DTS with 109K with no leaks I test drive it and loved it. Just worried sbout the repair cost if it does start to leak since the trans need to be removed to get to it

  • @lilredcrvtt
    @lilredcrvtt11 күн бұрын

    @JohnDcitizen you're welcome! The small leaks are easy enough to fix. Especially on the transmission or the transmission cooler lines. But be aware, that the entire engine cradle may need to be dropped to access any major oil leaks from the block That could be more expensive to fix. The block is a two piece design. The oil filter adapter can leak too. That can all add up. By 2005 or 2006, GM fixed most of the issues with the Northstar. I have close to 200,000 kms on my car. That is around 125,000 miles. I have a bit of minor oil seepage, but no leaks. My engine runs very well, and I expect it to do so for a long time into the future. GM finally fixed most of the big issues with the Northstar by the time the DTS was built. But, get your potential car very well checked over before you buy it. If it's all good, you will be a satisfied new owner. If not, I hope you can afford the repairs. 👍👍

    Hello, is there anything else that could cause the window from not winding in quite all the way? I have the same window crank operator model. When I wind the window closed it nicely wind's all the way but not quite all the way leaving about an inch to 1/2inch opening, i then have to use the other latch to try and catch the parts that pull the window to the lock position. I've totally greased up all the moving slides and seals and the window certainly moves a little more smoothly, however the issue remained. All in all the window is still working as intended, its just the slight hiccup that remains? I did take the crank operator out and inspected it, and from what i can tell it seems fine? I'm not opposed to buying a new crank operator, I was just wondering if you had any thought on this? Thanks in advance!!!

  • @lilredcrvtt
    @lilredcrvttАй бұрын

    Hi! I'm glad to be of help, if I can. The mechanism that contains the "gears" for the cranking of the window often spread apart. The housing is made of a white metal and is soft. When the housing deforms or spreads apart a bit, the slight pressure of the housing on the gears is relieved. That can cause the gears to not full mesh, causing the window to not full close. As a temporary "fix", you can remove the closure assembly from the window, and using a vice, slightly squeeze the housing together to put the slight tension back onto the gears. Somehow protect the housing when it's in the vice, otherwise you'll damage the finish. While you can try this, I don't necessarily recommend this as a permanent repair. You will be better off buying new replacement closure units. They aren't that expensive and usually fix the issue. Also, check all pivot points of your window to ensure everything moves as it should with no binding at any spot. I hope this helps, good luck with your repair! 👍👍

    @@lilredcrvtt Hello & Thanks very much for the response, after my first message sent i went on old trusty uutbe to see if there was something i was missing, and low and behold there were two adjustment mechanisims on either end of the stationarey control arms, once the ends of each of these are readjusted the window seems to pull in a little further....does this make sense? Apparent the company sells a casement window wrench for these mechanisims that periodically need adjustment. Thanks again!!! the window is now pulling in alot closer than it was....the bottom was easily adjusted but the top was more difficult to adjust, however it is pulling in way further than it was, i dnt think ill be needing a new crank operator just yet. How you fixed?

  • @lilredcrvtt
    @lilredcrvtt2 ай бұрын

    I had the supercharger replaced under the new var warranty that was on the car at the time. The "snout" that contains the isolator was also replaced once separately. Ultimately, the rattle returned to a lesser extent. The only known "fix" was to replace the original spring loaded isolater with a solid one. Those were or are still available from various aftermarket suppliers. Unfortunately GM declined to do this repair, and I subsequently sold my car and moved on. I wasn't interested in voiding my warranty by installing the solid isolater myself.

    I'm glad the video was helpful. In my particular case the unit was a Truth brand, model number 41011 and 41012. I show this information in my video. However, you should actually examine your particular unit to determine the correct brand and model number. This information will be stamped into the arm on your particular unit. Also I show in my video that you should confirm the measurement from the center of the crank pivot to the mounting hole on the arm. This is critical as you need to replace the unit with the same exact length arms. Watch the video to the end, and this will also be shown. Double check all information on your old unit to make certain you order the exact replacement. 👍

    Congratulations on your new Mach 1! You will love your new Mustang as I do mine! The car cover came with my car. I think you may be able to order one from a local Ford dealership. Mine was a $550 Canadian dollar option when I bought my car in December of 2021 from Downtown Ford in Toronto. Hopefully you get a good deal on a cover. The one I have is an indoor cover. G You might be able to order a black and white cover using your VIN at a local Ford dealership. If you want an outdoor cover, you may want to shop online. There are some great choices that are available. I live in Niagara Ontario, I don't drive my car in the winter. As such, I have not used any sort of rust proofing. No module, as that really does not work at all and is likely a money scam. Rust Check or Krown would work well. I would be mindful of any soft rubber seals that may swell using either product. It's happened on my winter vehicles in the past using Krown. But, some sort of corrosion protection is better than nothing, If you plan on any sort of winter driving. Again, congrats on your new car, enjoy! 👍👍👍

My car has the regular cloth seats. However heated and cooled leather seats were available as an option. If you are looking for a uses Mach 1, be aware that you can find them with the options you are looking for, it'll just take being selective and some time. But the right car is out there. It's a fact that earlier Northstar engines had problems. They pulled the threads on the head bolts, and had oil leaks between the engine block and crankcase. I had a 1999 STS and I did pull the engine out to fix all that stuff. By 2005/06 for the most part the Northstar was a much more reliable engine. Not to say that some didn't leak oil or have other problems. My "new to me" DTS has over 122,000 miles on it. The engine is dry, no leaks and the heads have never been off of it. If you have the warning light on your dashboard, as I do, you likely need to take your car to a tire shop. They can determine which sensor is not functioning. Then they would remove the wheel and separate the tire from the rim to replace the air valve/tire pressure monitor sensor assembly. It's not usually very expensive to have a new sensor installed. I've had three 10R80 transmission equipped vehicles. A 2019 GT, a 2021 Mach 1, and my daily driver 2018 F150. Never had one single issue with any of them. My F150 has over 174,000 kms (over 108,000 miles) and counting with zero issues. I did the transmission fliud and filter on my truck at 150,000 kms (93,000 miles), the fluid looked good and so did the filter. I don't see any problems maintaining the automatic transmission at all. There is no benefit from having a manual for me. As a side note, I would have bought my Mach 1 regardless of which transmission it had. After driving both transmissions in the Mach 1 on the track, I'd pick the automatic every time.

    Hello, what do you think of the new Firestone tires? Any issues with tramlining on the highway where the car starts following the grooves in the road and starts feeling light and darty? I have an 02 SS rag top with 35,000 kilometers ( I know... not 4,300 kilometers like yours) but still very low kilometers for the year. GM dealer tells me the alignment is spot on within the manufacturer's specs and the entire front end is tight with no play in the components. Car is not fun when starting to veer into next lane at highway speeds with ruts in the road. So this leaves me with a decision about what brand of tire to try next??

  • @lilredcrvtt
    @lilredcrvtt6 ай бұрын

    Thank you for your question. I have driven about 1100 kms on the Firestone Indy tires. They have been a very good tire, as they have a softer compound. I suspect they will wear more quickly than another tire might. I haven't noticed much, if any tramlining with these tires. But, to be fair, I really haven't driven the car very much during the last season. In my experience, a softer compound tire wil give more road feel, which could be interpreted as tramlining when used in a daily type driving experience. If you do a lot of that type of driving, it may be a good idea to compare the Firestone tires to other brands that have a different tread design and a higher tread life. In one of my other videos, I compare the Michelin Cup 2 tires that came original equipment on my Mustang Mach 1 to the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. The 4S tires completely eliminated the tramlining I experienced with the softer, track only Cup 2 tires that came on the car as new. I hope I've been of some help. Selecting tires is often a complex process to ensure you have a satisfactory experience with your particular car. Cheers! 👍

    I appreciate your reply and just keep your SS! If you do decide to try and sell again you can never been in a rush to sell a collector or specialty type car. There is always a genuine buyer out there that is serious and is aware of what you have and is fully versed on asking prices for that caliber of car they are looking for in the CURRENT economic marketplace. Unfortunately you usually have to sift through and filter through many insincere prospect buyer's that don't really have an intention to or aren't in the position to complete a sale regardless of the price point. There are dream buyer's on every level for every vehicle out there. LOL There is always that RIGHT qualified buyer that eventually comes along and legitimately wants your car without making all the excuses for not wanting to buy the car providing the price is within reason. Just my 2 cents on buyer's and selling.

  • @lilredcrvtt

    @annebrill485 you are correct! I am in no particular rush to sell my car. I did have some negative experiences when I tried to sell my car last year. There is a buyer for my car out there somewhere. I have been contacted by two potential buyers recently. One of them was what I considered a serious buyer from last summer. My car is still on their radar. The other potential buyer also spent a great deal of time discussing the car with me last fall. I feel it'll only be a matter of time before my car finds a new home. That's a pity, because I've actually grown to really enjoy and appreciate my car. Only time will tell if I sell my car. In the meantime, I'll plan to enjoy it this upcoming season. The 4th gen Camaro is truly on of the last of a type of car of which we likely will never see in the future. There is a visceral connection between the car and driver, that in many ways, is missing in newer cars. Enjoy you car every chance you have, they really are incredibly great!
