COWS HAPPEN TO BE INTELLIGENT THAT THEY WILL NEVER PASS THAT GATE.
That gate seems lie a huge safety hazard. Anyone who has seen what happens when one of those garage door springs snaps is not going to want to be anywhere near that gate when it goes down. There are no safety chains in the springs and even if there were, they might allow for far too much sideways movement for my liking. I would much prefer the return to be by counter-weighted cable than tension springs (especially out in the weather like that).

Lots of great ideas on there, but if I were to build it, I'd try and avoid pins and try and find ways to have a cam or other device to lock things in place. looks good though!
